Moatside there are other options for the arab mare if you read the whole thread.
My main concern now is what will happen to you Jan and your husband? |

Quarabian - I have read the thread and am aware that offers have been made BUT Elaine is unable to access her AL account and asked that it be made known that they would take her if all else failed :-) |

Sorry, did not mean to offend you Moatside. There is no chance that Palemira will be homeless. |

Please message me if you're still in need of help. I work at an animal sanctuary so I could make enquiries as to what we could take. |

Hi Everyone - thought you needed an update. I have not forgotten you all, but have been running round like you wouldn't believe.
Our eviction date was Monday 28th. We appealed and our case was heard on Thursday morning last week. 2 days before the appeal we had a lady who wanted to "sort of" buy our house (it's very complicated) which threw us a lifeline and meant, if it worked out, we could stay put for a while. The bank's solicitor opposed the "offer" and told (yes told) the Judge he should allow the eviction to take place. I didn't like this young ladies attitude and she had been very economic with the truth concerning what the bank did or did not know, and what the bank had and had not agreed to. From somewhere in the depths of my sole I became very articulate and eloquent and put forward an impassioned plea for common sense to prevail and to at least allow us two weeks to see if we could pull it off. Cutting a long story short, the Judge agreed with us and gave us a 28 day extention to try and sell the house!!! I was in floods of tears and shaking like a leaf. My legs were weak and I just wanted to shout out "thank you all you AL's for your positive vibes and prayers... we now have a chance". We have had lots of meetings with the very nice lady, but the bank will not agree to anything she is trying to do - we see our solicitor tomorrow morning to see if things can be resolved - keep sending those vibes everyone. The person who put in a terribly low offer got wind of this (no idea how as the only people in the know were in that court room, we hadn't told anyone else!) - they knew we had received an offer, that prompted them to return today (Tuesday) with their "agent" from Saville's - I told the agent if they put in an acceptable offer, put down a deposit and can exchange within 2 weeks then we can go ahead. We have another couple coming to view tomorrow. I have no idea what will happen, I still need a miracle for it all to work out.
With regard to the animals - I have friends who will take the 5 mini girls for a couple of months but I know I will have to sell them. The 2 mini stallions are going to a local person - she will look after them at a reasonable price - she can also take my 3 larger mares if necessary, but on a livery basis of course. I will have to sell Palemira but I am loathe to let go. A friend is taking the 4 alpaca boys, so I just have to sell some of my girl alpacas - older ones at very reasonable prices, a few young ones as well - but all reasonably priced. Hopefully the money raise from the sale will feed the others and pay for bills.
That just leaves us, the 6 cats and 2 dogs! Phew.
If it all goes wrong and we are still evicted, we do qualify for emergency council housing and they will let us take the dogs (they weren't too sure about the cats and birds - don't think I confessed to 2 pet sheep and 2 hens!)
Pray for us.... we need all the help we can get - and if anyone is interested in purchasing anything do please PM me - good homes most important.
Thanks again to all those who have offered help. Quarabian - thank you for all your help as well - I might have to bring the alpaca girls to you, but I will try and home some first.
Thank you all so much - and I will keep you informed. ALiner's are great.

I pray it will all work out for you; it must have been the most stressful time imaginable. Unfortunately I am too far away to be of any help but I really hope you manage to get things sorted.

Rooting for you here - dealing with a bank can be an absolute nightmare - they sent the bailiffs to my parents' house in the 1980's, then had to give everything back because they had no right to do so, but awful while it was going on. Fingers firmly crossed that you can come out the other side as well as possible. |

Can only hope and pray that things will work out for you. You were very brave to speak up when you must have just felt like screaming. Sadly I can't offer any practical help but thoughts are very much with you. xxx |

Good to see this post. We were getting worried. I too believe in the power of AL vibes so let us keep thinking positive thoughts.
Also when I 'lost' Palemira I wouldn't have known that she was just an hour away if you hadn't been an AL person. I am sorry that you need to sell her, but secretly I have been keeping a space for her here. I need some vibes on that issue. Lottery win would be good!

You may already have done this, but get in touch with Shelter, the advice is free and very good, many people think it's a charity that deals just with homelessness, but in reality much of the work is keeping people in their own home when possible or at least extending the period to give you more time. I worked for Shelter Cymru for several years and spent many days in court representing clients, the Judges can be very sympathetic if you have good reason why you have fallen on hard times illness, bereavement, job losses etc.

Hi - yes we have been in contact with Shelter and we arranged to meet them at court well before the hearing to appraise her of the latest situation. Unfortunately she didn't turn up until 2 minutes before the hearing, so I had to speak up for us both. She did tell the judge she couldn't have put things more eloquently herself, and after the hearing she congratulated us, she said she had never heard such a long closing speech from a Judge in this situation, let along get an extension of 28 days. I felt then, and I still do, that there is a mole at the bank feeding info to our original buyer!
Good Luck, Mandy

Hi, yes I have had quite a few offers to look after Palemira, and I haven't dismissed any of them yet. I know if I loaned her out too far away I would worry myself to death - I know that is daft, but it's just me. If she is close enough for me to keep an eye on, so to speak, I wouldn't worry so much. I also feel under pressure (even if self inflicted) to contribute something to the pot as my OH has had to sell so many of his treasured possessions including his old (I mean classic) BMW that he had waited all his life to get. The car meant nothing to me, it wasn't warm, furry and living - but I know it broke his heart to part with it - which he tried to keep from me. He has never said that I have to sell her, but the other horses are easier to look after in a general way, Palemira needs someone who knows about arabs - she is sensitive and intelligent, fearful of anything knew but willing to be assured that it isn't really a danger. For example I took some bits and bobs for them to eat and I used a different coloured bowl (blue instead of black) - this wasn't a problem for any of the others, but Pally was convinced I was hiding a lion in this new bowl that was going to jump out and get her!! It was amusing, and I did reassure her it was fine - that's just the sort of horse she is. I also worry that I won't be able to do her justice - I won't have the money to take her showing, won't be able to afford professional trainers, can't even afford to put her in foal - and if I had a foal I know I would keep it - I just can't part with all my "children" !!
I should probably see a therapist - he/she would have their work cut out for them.
Perhaps I am just too stressed to think clearly. I just don't know where I am going to be, what will happen, will we ever find jobs. I will keep plodding on though. I have to. |

alpacastoo Palemira will never be wasted as long as she is loved and cared for, it dose not matter if you do not show her she dose not know shes missing a days showing, it dose not matter if you don,t send her a trainer or put her in foal, what really matters is that she is loved and looked after by the right person and if you can hopefully keep her then that would be fantastic so stop worrying that you are not doing her justice , you are because you are there for her and you love her. I am sure thats what matters to Palemira more than showing , breeding and top trainer. Fingers crossed here for you |

Fingers crossed and prayers sent that everything works out for you. In your shoes I would demand to know how people are getting what is privileged information as if there is a 'mole at the bank' then they could well lose their jobs over that breach of trust...... its unprofessional as well as unethical.
Never mind that you are not going to be able to show your lovely girl she won't mind in the least, wish there was something I could offer to do but sadly lacking in land so can't even offer grazing only wish I could!
At least the judge listened to sense, and as for Savilles then watch them like a hawk, had dealings with them before and to say they can be 'sneaky and underhanded' is about right had more than one squabble with them on a professional basis over clients wishes.
Would have thought that the bank would not refuse 'any reasonable offer or resolution' in this case and hope to heavens you have kept every single letter scrap of paper the bank ever sent you, that kind of information can be your lifeline again ........if you have it in weriting from the bank what they will/won;t agree to then they have to stick by it they can't just move the goalposts to suit their whims and wishes. Hope all goes well with the solicitors. |

New update: things are progressing - albeit slowly - see solicitor tomorrow (Friday) and I am hoping we can work something out. The "Horrible" purchasers must have a mole, they seem to know what is happening as soon as it has happened.
A few people have enquired about alpacas, but nothing has happened yet. Friends said the horse world is still depressed so finding new homes for the mini mares is going to be difficult, if not impossible.
Will keep you all informed - keep sending those vibes folks..... I really do need them! Thanks to everyone.
