Hi everyone, I have not been on here for a long time. My life continues to be sh...... and doesn't ever seem to get any better. Having battled with cancer, and the loss of our youngest son (as many will already know) I had to put up with a terrible boss at work which became harder and harder to bear, ending up with me losing my job. So both of us are out of work and try as we do, we can't get new jobs. We are now faced with eviction at the end of the month which gives me less than 2 weeks to find homes for animals, or try and rent somewhere. Not really worried about me and partner - we can rough it - but we have 6 cats, 2 small dogs, 37 alpacas, 3 larger horses (well compared to the minis) and 5 mini mares and 2 mini stallions. Not forgetting 2 male sheep (Tiny Timmy who isn't so tiny now and his friend) - then there's the fish, the chickens, the birds!!! Then all our furniture, agricultural and equestrian stuff - 2 weeks isn't enough time to try and sort that lot out! I am struggling to carry on. The only good (but sad) thing is that I won't have to upset or worry about my old friend Shelly - my beautiful Chestnut PBA by Blue John - I had to have her put to sleep on New Years Day aged 37. It broke my heart, especially as she didn't want to go and her heart was strong and brave as ever, but her legs had gone, she was going blind and deaf - but so trusting. Why are all these things happenening? Have I angered the Gods so much? I am at the wrong age to start again, and I have lost everything apart from my partner and my life.

Any ideas, support would be gratefully received.
If you know of anywhere to let (cheap as I have no income) such as grazing land, please let me know.

I can't sleep and can't stop crying.
What else can I do?
I know I will have to sell my beautiful Arab Mare and try and find homes for the minis, but I think they need passports - OMG I will probably get in hot water for forgetting that, but I honestly just can't think.

I will pace the room again and see if I can think of anything useful.

Sorry to rant.
Over and out.

There are lots of caravans etc... on Preloved. Maybe worth a look?
Quarabian Posted - 09 Aug 2014 : 09:16:45 AM
I am still available for assistance with animals Jan, but I'll look for a caravan too!
alpacastoo Posted - 09 Aug 2014 : 07:22:05 AM
Hi all - well rightly or wrongly the deed is done. We have signed. Now looking for a cheap winterised caravan or mobile home. They are more expensive than I thought. Will keep you all informed.

Not sure if it is quite legal for her to be able to pay rent and then have it returned when she buys the house, after all she has been living there so should pay rent.

Many moons ago (and I know legal things can change) we sold our house and moved into a new one where completion hadn't gone through and we had to pay a rent based on the value of the house until completion, certainly didn't get our rent returned.

I do hope you manage to come out of the other side OK and things improve for you.

I am sorry to read this, like Callisto hope it's just a temporary solution, not nice of her to take advantage of a desperate situation….also agree with Catherine1960 about the bank.Keep us informed xxx
Callisto Posted - 07 Aug 2014 : 10:06:55 PM
Not sure what to say to your latest post, sounds pretty grim, can only hope that it means you have a breathing space to be able to sort out something much better for you and yours in the long run. Stay strong.
alpacastoo Posted - 07 Aug 2014 : 8:14:05 PM
Hi everyone.
It has been a very tense, depressing 48 hours. Our rescue plan isn't quite as good as it sounded originally. We should sign tomorrow, all being well, but it still means I come out with nothing and have to lend her my furniture and all my equipment. All rent she pays has to be paid back to her when she buys the house! That means she stays for free. I can stay free but I have to build a 6ft fence around my caravan and keep the dogs and cats locked up! Well, at least I know what to call my new home..... COLDITZ! It doesn't sound very legal or ethical but she won't use the agreement my solicitor drew up, she has drawn up her own and I either sign up or I am out on my ear.
catherine1960 Posted - 07 Aug 2014 : 4:38:22 PM
Hi if the bank are feeding someone the information then make an urgent complaint to the Head Office of the bank and explain exactly what you suspect.............whoever is doing it is breaching the rules and acting in an unethical and unprofessional manner and may well be in breach of the banking code of practice and conduct.........sounds like they have more than 'professional' interest in the place! Maybe someone at the bank has got a relative to act as an intersted buyer for them.....sounds strange they know exactly how much to bid far too much detail for them to be acting without some kindof heads up from someone on the inside
Paresh Posted - 07 Aug 2014 : 10:16:32 AM
Alpacastoo did you receive the PM I sent you as I never got a reply to it.

Hope you get things sorted out
alpacastoo Posted - 06 Aug 2014 : 09:58:51 AM
Hi everyone, things have been very tense indeed - can't say too much at the moment but our "evil" buyer definitely has inside information - he came back with an offer that matched the amount of our debt exactly, but was still way below asking price and would have left us with nothing. Our Estate Agent even said that bloke is crooked, he knows what Bank you are with - my fear is he will approach the bank with his "offer" whilst we are still trying to sort out our other rescue plan.

Things were critical yesterday and we nearly lost our rescue plan - she has another property that she could buy and needs to move on our house quickly or she will lose both. Very short time window to get it all sorted (48 hrs). Our solicitor is working extra hard to sort it all out. If it works we can at least stay here for a little while but will have to reduce our stock, as we will only have 2 acres to use. It might take her a year to come up with the full money to purchase. Not an ideal solution, but best we can do.

I urgently need to part with quite a few alpacas, 5 miniature mares at least. If all those who have enquired about them could confirm if they can proceed it would help me enormously. I have got somewhere to put the mini mares for a couple of months, but it is too exposed weather wise to leave there over the winter.

Still not out of the woods yet. Yes the bank have been feeding information - but how do I prove it? At the moment I must concentrate and getting things sorted. We will still be out of work, but at least I can live in a caravan with some of my animals around me. May take a long time to get on my feet - but I will try. Just wish I was 30 years younger!

Thanks again to everyone for offers of help and support.

Hope next update will be a good one!

Just a thought.. not sure if you feel the bank has not acted in a fair way ( do they ever!) might be worth your while contacting the Financial Ombudsman. Having been in a similar situation with my bank and getting nowhere after FO was involved bank at once changed tactics! amazingly!!
Good Luck and fight for your rights every inch of the way x
brockle Posted - 03 Aug 2014 : 6:56:18 PM
Have you found places for all animals etc? Are you anywhere near SA32 postcode? I could ask lovely lady there if she can help in any way if its not too far. She is very helpful and will always go the extra mile.
barbara.gregory Posted - 01 Aug 2014 : 07:49:33 AM
Fingers crossed for the solicitor's meeting today. I really hope you manage to sort something out.

In the absence of a proper job would you be able to do house sitting to look after people's pets, dog walking, a few hours mucking out for someone etc just to bring in a little bit of money.

Positive vibes going your way.

New update: things are progressing - albeit slowly - see solicitor tomorrow (Friday) and I am hoping we can work something out. The "Horrible" purchasers must have a mole, they seem to know what is happening as soon as it has happened.

A few people have enquired about alpacas, but nothing has happened yet.
Friends said the horse world is still depressed so finding new homes for the mini mares is going to be difficult, if not impossible.

Will keep you all informed - keep sending those vibes folks..... I really do need them! Thanks to everyone.

Fingers crossed and prayers sent that everything works out for you. In your shoes I would demand to know how people are getting what is privileged information as if there is a 'mole at the bank' then they could well lose their jobs over that breach of trust......
its unprofessional as well as unethical.

Never mind that you are not going to be able to show your lovely girl she won't mind in the least, wish there was something I could offer to do but sadly lacking in land so can't even offer grazing only wish I could!

At least the judge listened to sense, and as for Savilles then watch them like a hawk, had dealings with them before and to say they can be 'sneaky and underhanded' is about right had more than one squabble with them on a professional basis over clients wishes.

Would have thought that the bank would not refuse 'any reasonable offer or resolution' in this case and hope to heavens you have kept every single letter scrap of paper the bank ever sent you, that kind of information can be your lifeline again ........if you have it in weriting from the bank what they will/won;t agree to then they have to stick by it they can't just move the goalposts to suit their whims and wishes. Hope all goes well with the solicitors.

Hi, yes I have had quite a few offers to look after Palemira, and I haven't dismissed any of them yet. I know if I loaned her out too far away I would worry myself to death - I know that is daft, but it's just me. If she is close enough for me to keep an eye on, so to speak, I wouldn't worry so much. I also feel under pressure (even if self inflicted) to contribute something to the pot as my OH has had to sell so many of his treasured possessions including his old (I mean classic) BMW that he had waited all his life to get. The car meant nothing to me, it wasn't warm, furry and living - but I know it broke his heart to part with it - which he tried to keep from me. He has never said that I have to sell her, but the other horses are easier to look after in a general way, Palemira needs someone who knows about arabs - she is sensitive and intelligent, fearful of anything knew but willing to be assured that it isn't really a danger. For example I took some bits and bobs for them to eat and I used a different coloured bowl (blue instead of black) - this wasn't a problem for any of the others, but Pally was convinced I was hiding a lion in this new bowl that was going to jump out and get her!! It was amusing, and I did reassure her it was fine - that's just the sort of horse she is. I also worry that I won't be able to do her justice - I won't have the money to take her showing, won't be able to afford professional trainers, can't even afford to put her in foal - and if I had a foal I know I would keep it - I just can't part with all my "children" !!

I should probably see a therapist - he/she would have their work cut out for them.

Perhaps I am just too stressed to think clearly. I just don't know where I am going to be, what will happen, will we ever find jobs. I will keep plodding on though. I have to.

You may already have done this, but get in touch with Shelter, the advice is free and very good, many people think it's a charity that deals just with homelessness, but in reality much of the work is keeping people in their own home when possible or at least extending the period to give you more time. I worked for Shelter Cymru for several years and spent many days in court representing clients, the Judges can be very sympathetic if you have good reason why you have fallen on hard times illness, bereavement, job losses etc.

Hi - yes we have been in contact with Shelter and we arranged to meet them at court well before the hearing to appraise her of the latest situation. Unfortunately she didn't turn up until 2 minutes before the hearing, so I had to speak up for us both. She did tell the judge she couldn't have put things more eloquently herself, and after the hearing she congratulated us, she said she had never heard such a long closing speech from a Judge in this situation, let along get an extension of 28 days. I felt then, and I still do, that there is a mole at the bank feeding info to our original buyer!

Good Luck, Mandy

Good to see this post. We were getting worried. I too believe in the power of AL vibes so let us keep thinking positive thoughts.

Also when I 'lost' Palemira I wouldn't have known that she was just an hour away if you hadn't been an AL person. I am sorry that you need to sell her, but secretly I have been keeping a space for her here. I need some vibes on that issue. Lottery win would be good!

The Alpacas Welcome sign is going up over the farm entrance.

Can only hope and pray that things will work out for you. You were very brave to speak up when you must have just felt like screaming. Sadly I can't offer any practical help but thoughts are very much with you. xxx
