I have one of his foals born 1994 PORTUNAS and I would love to hear from anyone who has any interesting information on his history showing wise. Also any pictures I would love.
I also wondered if GALEON is still alive and where he is.
Please any bit of info would be greatly received

Theres a name from the past! I remember seeing him at shows in the 90's when we were showing intensively, as far as i can remember he was owned ( and possibly bred by ) Joan Ratcliff of Claverdon stud, cant remember anything else but if i do i will let you know!! |

Which Galeon is it that you want info on? I have a Galeon (Partner/Garsella) grandson.

GALEON was bred in Poland. He was owned by the Claverdon Stud - some people may remember him as the horse who got loose in a stallion class at Malvern and nearly caused a major incident by threatening to attack other horses.

I understand he came under the Beefeater Scheme swop/load to improve the breed.. Like Narv & Charmer and several other Arabians, this also involved Water Farm the Lowe's and several other studs.
A Great Idea.

Ther is no stock recorded for Galeon.. so if anyone has any info maybe they will share it with Allbreeds.

Galeon (1986, grey stallion) was bred at Kurozweki State Stud in Poland, by Partner out of Garsella by Bandos. He was noticed and admired by Mrs. Joan Ratcliff and her daughter Mrs. Joanne Lowe who saw him in Warsaw when he was in race training, (he was a race winner), so they arranged to lease him. He came to UK as a 5-year old early in 1991 and returned to Poland in 1993. He did very well both in hand and under saddle ridden by Joanne Lowe, I am sure that it was NOT this stallion who got loose in a class and threatened to attack other stallions. There was an incident with a different grey stallion, coincidentally also by Partner, but not bred in Poland, which dropped his rider in a ridden class at Malvern and got loose, never an easy scenario for the riders and other stallions to cope with. No horse or rider was injured in that incident.
Galeon was around 15.3 He had 38 registered purebred Arabian foals in UK registered between 1992 and 1994, and also some excellent Anglos such as Claverdon Commander. When he returned to Poland he was used at Bialka State Stud and by his new Polish owner for breeding both purebreds (not many) and to produce well over 20 Malopolska breed sport horses. He was gelded and did very well in higher level dressage for a while. He died a few years ago.
Many of his direct offspring and their descendants have excelled in endurance, racing and various equestrian sports.

| I thought it was Rumak that got loose and causing a scary time at Malvern in the ridden stallion class? Penny Armstrong was riding him as I remember? Galeon was ridden by Joanne Lowe when I saw him and seemed perfectly behaved....I may have missed something though? |

I was there and saw the whole thing. It was definitely Galeon. I also saw what led up to the incident and who caused it, but that is a different story!
