Hi, I'm Chief Executive for a Charity for autism - we have residential homes, a residential school and support and training in the community. It's very challenging and also satisfying. However I used to be an artist in a former life, specialising in commissions of animals, especially horses and dogs. I'd like to go back to that one day.
I do have help when I need it with the horses and dogs as I'm on my own since my husband died 2 years ago and one daughter at uni and the other married with a family.
So life is pretty busy for me too. |

Moonfruit - Congratulations on your new job - will have to catch up soon!!
I've just started working for myself as a freelance marketing and communications manager. It's absolutely great, flexible, challenging, varied and fun. And I never work more than four days a week so that I have time for life - and Shah |

Some really interesting jobs out there! I'm a senior project manager for a marketing agency and my daily life revolves around 'points mean prizes' as we specialise in incentives...if you want your staff to sell more, make more, communicate with you, represent your brand values correctly then give me a call and we'll incentivise them to do it....and yes they should just do it as thats their wages are for but a few extras always help...human nature I also have an office at home where i spend fridays and any other day i can get away with it |

Isn't it amazing how many ways we find to pay for our horses? I am assistant manager at a golf club. I often get asked if I play golf. The answer to that is, No, but I could find a very good use for all that smooth oped grassland. |

Until recently i worked full time 9-5 for a driving school in the office, and i also had a part time cleaning job, which i did 5 days a week for 2 hours a night. My working day usually finished by 12/1.00am and then i'd be up again, to be up the field for 7am.
I have now bought the driving school, in a huge amount of debt, and given up the cleaning job. I've just spent the last two weeks, sleeping! I really can't tell you how nice it is, to come home from the horses and not have to go back out to work! My new day is up the field for 7am, in work for 9am, finish at 5pm, have tea, up field usually 6/6.30pm. Then back home at 10pm. The other grat thing as well now, is have an instructor working 8 hours a week in the office, so i can let them build up and still have my holidays!! |

I am amazed at how many of you work so hard to keep your horses, I am lucky now as we are retired and have a good pension, so horses numbering 10 live the life of luxury but please god keep me going as they need me if anything happens to me the OH will have a grand sale of Dreamfield horses, and run off to the Bahamas with a young floozy ( non of you young floozys need apply) |

Nicky - I can't deny it but one saving grace is that I do work quite hard and we're not paid very well. I'd get 5-6K more in the private sector but the 30 days annual leave, up to 3 flexi days off a month and totally flexible working hours are a godsend with the horses.

Wow, some of you do really interesting things!
I've just started working for Weatherbys - yes, the TB authority I work in British Horse Racing accounts, basically adding on charges and refunds to clients accounts - doesn't sound very exciting but its actually quite interesting seeing 'names' you know - and we get lots of celeb-owners, like footballers, on teh phone (as well as the nasty people). And there are loads of perks - i'm a member of the Racing Syndicate and am just back from seeing 'my' hurdler train over jumps, and hada fully subsidised day out at Newmarket on Friday to see Dutch Art anihilate the field |

Nut, we can all appreciate the value of the incentive. Most of us are enduring work as an incentive to have our Arabs!!! |

Back in my student days I used to have a horse on loan in my 'holidays' from Uni. In order to afford to keep her and stay out of debt I used to do 3 jobs. Worked as a groom from about 8am-5pm, had a pub bar job 6:30pm-12 midnight and at weekends I would leave my pub bar job at last orders (11pm)to do a bar job in a nightclub until 2:30am. Up to work with horses the next day. It was worth it to have that horse on loan though - she was given to me when I finished Uni and now I only have to do 1 job to keep her and another horse! What we do for these 4 leggeds! |

WOW! We are a very versatile bunch of people here!
I'm an Equestrian Artist.
I do other subjects too, but horses naturally are the passion!!
Apart from being Mum to two teenagers and assorted other animals ( most important job in the world!! ), I am really pushing hard now to make my way in Art, While the girls were growing up, the art took a back seat, but as they are up to their eyes in studies and trying to decide what to do with their lives, I reckoned that this was a good time for me to take up the reins again in a far more serious way.
I am currently planning an exhibition of Art I really hope I may be able to interest my local Race Course to exhibit, Most are TBS, both local and a few better known celebs.....jockeys, scenes from parade ring, horse lines and the track and so on.....and of course, I shall throw in some ARABS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep your fingers crossed for me, please!!! This will be my first exhibition for years. For ages I've just taken private commissions and worked to order, so this is a leap of faith I hope will be successful!!!
Here's a certain chestnut Arab Gentleman ! This picture is loosely based on Kasadi, the sire of my girl, Chlio.
Hope you like!!!! |
