Karl and I have just got back from a holiday at Old Lanwarnick, Cornwall and fulfilled our lifelong dream of galloping on the beach!
Barney wasn't too sure about the sea though, reminding me that he is, after all, from the desert...

Lovely pictures, I'm glad you had a great time.! Roger's not sure about the waves either but wonders what all the fuss is about, when he's been persuaded that they're not horse-eating monsters! |

Fabulous! I've only done it once, and not on my own horse, much as I would have loved to - on the beach between Seahouses and Bamburgh, and every time I see Bamburgh Castle on telly I remember that amazing feeling. |

When I was at college we used to ride around the beach on Hayling Island every Sunday morning and come back through the dunes. The horses were stabled all week as it was out of the holiday season, when so Butlins was closed. These were not arabs, but this was their one time out a week, and most of us had no real training in how to ride, or indeed, how to fall off. We did ok at both
It is the best in my experience, cos I never got hurt, and we always came back smiling.
Enough about me, I am so glad you enjoyed it. I suspect this will not be the last time you try either. |

Fab pics! I'm in Cornwall and always think I'm sooooo lucky to be able to pop down to the beach for an amble after work - nothing quite like it to blow the cobwebs away!
I do believe there is almost a hint of sunshine in those pics???! |

Lovely to ride on beach and thanks for sharing. It reminded me of some lovely memories or my past horses on the beach. I did notice the dog loose running afer you and luckily how good the horses were. Did you know this dog, and did the owners try and recall it? I'd love to take my young just broken arab down to the beach (when I get transport!), but have worried about loose dogs like this in such an open different place. 20 years ago my horse got attacked on beach by rotweiler dog jumping up at her neck and face and I was only young and very frightened and have never forgotten this. I find it is worse with dogs and owners on beach because they think horse is too far for dog to bother chasing it, but then it gets a good run on which makes things worse when it does, as owner too far for dog to hear it. Then again dog may have been part of vidio!!? |

No - we didn't know the dog and luckily it did get out of the way! In fact I only noticed it when I watched the video back! |
