I have just been looking on the for sale pages and along with no price, it said "if you cant afford her don't phone", well that has really pi**ed me off.
I have been thinking of getting a new horse one that had bin there and done it.
What sellers can afford to be so rude to prospect buyers!!!
Sorry for the rant, feel better now.

That is a bit off-putting I agree. The way I see it, someone who doesn't necessarily have pots of gold could offer the best home and future for a particular horse, but then someone with bags of money could buy an expensive horse and offer a not so good home and ruin it. |

I know people that have called a seller only to be told the horse is priced out of there budget, and the seller has not even asked what there budget is how on earth does someone know how much money you have over the phone after talking to you for less than 5 minutes, they could be talking to Richard Branson for all they know, think it screams snobbery sorry but just my opinion. |

It's a great shame if it denies good prospective owners/homes access to nice horses that deserve good home/owners. |

I thought exactly the same. In fact I thought how arrogant! How can anyone know whether they can afford something if they have no idea how much or at least whether it is within their price range.
I have never paid a lot for my horses and have had some super horses including my lovely mare that has been a super endurance horse as well as being stunning (well imo) no doubt this seller would think her horse was too good and too expensive to go a do a proper job! |

I saw that too and thought it was extremely offputting Whether your budget is £1000 or £10,000 how do you know if you can afford it when there' s no price advertised Can't imagine anyone phoning with that sort of attitude |

Glo - I'm with you there! I probably COULD afford her but there is absolutely no way I would reply to an advertisement like that. Straight away it puts your back up and you think "it ent that special........" |

Had a good giggle with nat about that ad yesterday, all i can say is if the attitude is like that and they cant post a photo to back it up (as it looks like it is an awful lot of money) then who knows. If they want to waste the advertising cost then it is up to them but it does'nt make pleasant reading, the name will be ingrained on peoples minds for a time to come i think. |

I also thought it was very rude to prospective buyers, added with no picture I don't suppose she is going to get a lot of interest.....unless it's just out of being nosey |

How rude indeed!!
Like people have said how do they know what your budget is, I could have won the Lotto on Wednesday and was on the look out for quality horses with an open cheque book but that would put me off dealing with the person even if the horse was reserve World champion.

Ha ha I thought when I saw it they clearly don't want to sell that horse and even if I had an unlimited budget wouldn't ring especially with no picture! |

I had to go and see what this was all about. Not only how rude, but how stupid to expect decent people to enquire. What a waste of an advertising fee.
Come on advertiser, have the decency to put a price and a photo on your ad. |

It REALLY bugs me when people put adverts to sell things and dont put a price!
WHAT is the point???
But agreed this one is BEYOND rude!! They obviuosly think themselves far to good to speak to the likes of us mere commoners
My grandma had a saying for people who were openly snobbish. she always said, susie, dont let people like that look down their noses at you as its all on the never never... all fur coat and no knickers!

There was a thread on here a while ago on the 'POA' marker on adverts.
People had really good reasons for putting Price on Application - but I must say there are plenty of ads where I would have wanted to know more about the horse but have never called, because I assume POA means it's going to be more than expected, or that the seller would test the caller's means before deciding what to declare.
And because of people's sensitivity I wouldn't want to call and be thought of as a timewaster, asking questions about a horse I had no chance of affording.
Rightly or wrongly, POA makes me pass on down the list.
"If you can't afford her" is just a waste of the cost of the advert! |

I also had to go and look at the advert - it put my back up even after having read the posts on this thread! Methinks she won't get many enquiries.

In the past I have phoned about horses that have no price on them, I ask for the price before I ask any questions, the thing is they all start to sound defensive, like I have done something wrong!!! when in reality I only want to buy a horse at a price I am happy to pay.
I love the the saying "all fur coat and no knickers" I will keep that for a laugh at a party sometime, as we all know people like that!!
I don,t buy horses off rude people, there are plenty of nice lovely polite people out there with beautiful horses.
