Thanks for sharing with us...Anj are you in the US. Leaving the sire of your Black/coloured Arabian foal.... Still all very interesting... I think some of this breeding goes back to Ben Rabba...need to go and have a look. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/saba+mashaali

And latest on Firebird..I see he is entered for the Golden Horseshoe in the 160km Class,(over 2 days). Cheers Sue. |

My gelding Taroub, Spearmint and Tamira has a round splash under his belly and has high white on three legs quite unusual marking on one of those legs. Quite big white blaze and sure he has it on lower lip to. I would post pic but i still can never work out how
I also have a H Tobago filly who doesnt have much white, just a very pretty white blaze and one leg
They are both bred along some same lines, he has lots of white but they are both very similar when together. |

The info I have on birdcatcher spots did not come from a single source, it's stuff I've learned from various people (and own observations) over the years. I have a good friend who is a highly regarded amateur equine colour genetic researcher, and she usually gets hold of everything published by academics in the field. The best single book on the subject is 'Equine Color Genetics' by Dr Philip Sponenberg - it's not an easy read, but it *is* a good summary of the subject.

Also lovely photo of sabiano on p6, Dona Zorina (Don Cesar x Zephirine) at New Albion Stud, USA. |

Sorry I cant answer your question. I guess the spots came from the sire's side...as many of the ponies on the dams side are coming up GREY. Also, look at C C Berwynfa... and go back to Dyoll Starlight as there is quite a few Arabians creaping in there..SAHARA (at least twice) and the Crawshaw Arabian..so your horse has more than Welsh in his Welsh breeding.. DYOLL ( is Lloyd spelt backwards). Has some of the earliest Arabains turned out with the Welsh ponies gooing back to the 1840's.

Nice chestnut horse Kismet, leaving the all breeds link as there are quite a few pics in the brreding to look at. Remind me of the dams line, of your new foal.. to see if anytghing rinds bells for white splashes..etc.

Thank you we think he's pretty special too. Can't believe the years have gone by so quickly, just hope we have him for many more yet.The dam of Kismet is A.K.Kastana who is also dam of Crusader but also passed on a fair amount of white. The dam of the colt is Atmosfera who is by Fadlak out of Kapraslina who is also by Kapron.Atmosfera is 21 now.She has quite a lot of grey hair in her coat so I suppose this foal has had the "white" from both sides. She has had five foals and has earned her retirement. |
