As the title says - should I order myself something pretty and coordinating with my outfit and will I risk being marked down if used a normal leather browband?
Are there any other outfit faux pas newbies to showing often fall into? Will it matter massively the cut of my long boots or the colour of my waistcoat?
My mare is pure bred if that helps

I've always used plain, since it's the formal rule, but many - possibly the majority - do use a coloured one.
There's a good article on turnout in the Articles section on here. However, seasonal fashions do come and go, and people aren't wearing 'lemon' breeches any more, but corn yellow ones, and you'll find the pro riders are using them. So it's always good to go to a show and see what others are wearing.
I don't think the cut of your boots will matter, though totally formal wear says garter strap boots for showing (mine aren't!). I don't think the colour of your waistcoat will matter either. Some wear red or yellow with navy cutaway jacket and that looks smart.
The more important thing is your mare rides well and is obedient! Enjoy your showing and good luck! |

Hi, Im with Nat, sparkly rather than coloured, I have a couple of diamante ones, that I bought quite a number of years ago and they still look the biz - Georgina x |
