Amateur Home Produced.........Does the ruling mean that the Owner/Breeder who is an amateur but too elderley to run out his horse, and asks an amateur to run his horse in the ring......mean he is not eligible to enter his horse for this BAHPAC championship

Hi Barbara
The rules and regs are :-
Definition of Amateur
1) Handler not to have been paid for showing or producing any horse for a third party, this includes any remuneration either as employment, casual showing, or any in-kind benefits whatsoever. 2) Horse not to have "resided" on a professional yard on show or training livery in 2009. 3) Horse not to have been shown by a professional in 2009. 4) Horse not to have received "regular" training from a visiting professional in 2009.
Exhibitors DO NOT have to be members of AHS to enter the Championships when qualified
If you are an amateur and your handler does not charge you, nor receive payment in anyway shape or form for doing so, but does it because you are, ahem sorry for this, "too elderley to run out his horse" and probably therefore gets as much pleasure and is as much part of the showing "team" then you stil qualify. Its mainly to stop people who have horses either produced or regularly schooled and then go to one show themselves and want to bring them, thats why we try to keep the rules flexible and will try to help where we can.
I would LOVE more anglos/part breds to come to the show as I have been trying to get them interested in the show for the past two years and assure them all are treated the same, I've even had a head designed by Sally Reese for the part bred trophies |
