got beaten up whilst on their walk today.
OH took them up the lane and onto the bridleway to run off some steam. A large black alsatian was coming the other way, so OH put them on their leads as Floyd is unpredictable with other dogs. The woman walking the other one got hold of hers.... who then got free and pounced on Daisy who rolled over yelping. Floyd's collar broke, he joined in to protect her and it became a total bun-fight.
Thankfully, no real damage done. Floyd has a nasty cut on one paw (but thankfully not bad enough to require stitches) and Daisy has a few grazes. Ben exchanged numbers with the other woman who wasn't the dog's owner - she was just walking it. It's owner phoned later to check they were ok and to say that if any vet's visits were needed, she'd contribute towards the bill.
I'm slightly annoyed that the woman walking the GSD didn't put her dog on a lead - it's no wonder a big strong dog like that got away from her - and apparently she was ineffective at getting her dog off - OH had to do it.
Still, no major harm done and at least the owner had the decency to phone up and check everything was ok.
