HAVE JUST HAD OUR FIRST HACK !!!!!!!!!
I took Boysie out for his very first hack this morning
There were a few things putting me off a bit.
1 - it was 4 degrees outside 2 - it was blowing a gale 3 - it was raining that nasty misty rain that gets you really wet 4- Bruka had already gone out and Boysie was none too pleased 5- he was a bit box fresh as straight from the stable and had been fully clipped 2 days ago!
hmmmmmm I thought .... and my friend had offered babysitting services with her 2 warmbloods.... so off we went !
We had a few perching moments when he felt like he was about to explode on the drive . But as soon as we got on the road he uncoiled and started walking out nicley
It was a bit worrying as all the cars are SO loud in the puddles, but he wasnt bothered in the least
We went up unthank lane ( steep!) and we were only about 200yrds up theroad when we came across a MASSIVE puddle stretching the WHOLE width of the road and about 40 feet long now.... they're funny arn't they.. rivers - fine , streams - fine , puddles not fine !
Claire shouted instructions furiously at me to keep him straight so he didnt go on the verge and bless him (I think he closed his eyes ) he TROTTED through it !!!
He was loving being out and didn't worry about the pig farm we had to pass ( one of the warmbloods HATES the smell of them ) and Boysie was in front the whole way round !
I did ask him to go behind at one point as his 10p was running out The hills round us are MAHOOSIVE
He was fine for a while but then got annoyed and put in a few bucks got told off and carried on walking out nicely I did wonder if it was his excercise sheet that was annoying him, but in retrospect I think he was just trying his luck I know , I know, but he's fully clipped and I know he's fine with flappy rugs, so better that flapping then him getting chilly and showing off because he's cold and it was a thermatex wrap around so it kept my WOW dry as well
Back down Fox lane, ( another mahoosive hill) and he was incredibly balanced for such a young horse as it really is steep
I'm SO PROUD of Boysie ... and myself...
I never thought I'd be able to get on a baby again after my anglo and her antics shattered my confidence so badly last year.
I'm just so pleased

Give both of you a pat on the back!

PS Know what you mean about the PUDDLES, they house unseen monsters that eat horses from hooves upwards
