Yes turnout was low but there was a "C" show a virtual stone's throw away, and the Amateur show the day before. last year there was an unfortunate last minute cancellation due to travellers, and the year before it was the weekend after Cheshire, so had better entries.
Its hard to stage a comeback after a cancellation, as we have found at regional group level, whether its your fault or not.
There were still some really lovely horses there, and the show itself is very friendly and pleasant, with excellent directions and plenty of classes for the Anglo and part bred people to show under different judges.
The timetable even allowed for competitors to do both in hand and ridden with the same horse, some are both pretty and versatile!
let us hope that it is still run next year on a date that will allow for better entries.

I have always loved going to Bolton Show. The organisers are really friendly and the showground is lovely. Met Jane 77, Arabian Girl and Mandala - always nice to see fellow A Liners and to top it off we won our ridden class so came home very happy. We will def be there next year. |
