Isn't it funny how during the dreaded "Fly" season....ones horse/horses are perfectly happy to be slapped all over on the quest to kill landed horse flies - in fact my lot all activly encourage my happy slapping But out of fly season....just you try to slap & they will think you are trying to attack them

Tara used to still get annoyed with me even when I was slapping the horse flies on her! She always looked very offended if I slapped her! My favourite horse at the stables I go to here likes it though, we went out yesterday evening and there were so many mosquitos, I kept slapping them off her shoulders, one had been busy eating either her or me as when I slapped it it made a right bloody mess!! It was probably me it bit as I've got a massive itchy lump come up on my hand today :(

The locals must think I'm off my rocker when I'm out riding as they will often here *slap* 'Good girl!' when I attack a horsefly!

One thing I've found I cant do without in the "fly season" is my horse whisk! its a long cane with what looks like a horses tail on the end of it Rose loves me whisking her front and sides and its great for your back and shoulders, I can really get up a good speed with it.......I do get some REALLY funny looks from passing motorists though ps; I bought it a few years ago from Shires equestrian.
