No, we don't know who Noel is. Some of the horses were born at the Peels, others were on loan, some on breeding loan, and they would not sell them back or give them back to their owners. The AHS were working (or thought they were) with the RSPCA as they knew we wanted to save all the horses, not just our own, as we knew what appalling cruelty they suffered while with those evil people. I hope no one ever forgets what they did and they are shunned by everyone and not allowed back as others have been.

It wasn't just horses; many, many sheep died on more than one occasion. I am told sheep have a habit of dying but surely not in huge numbers an several occasions. There were also cattle in appalling conditions and and a number of dogs.

The Peels would make arrangements for people to visit to see their horses and then at the last minute were ill or some other excuse to call off the visits. We only all found this out when we started the support group on FB for people who had horses there. Sadly there was nothing we could do as the horses were on private property, many of them sold in good faith to what we thought would be a good home.

In court she showed absolutely no remorse for what they had done; "took her eye off the ball".

Libby, she would not let the horses go; some people tried to get/buy their horses back but they refused.

Well, the RSPCA has really shot themselves in the foot, haven't they?

Leaving aside the distressing details of the fate of these horses both before and after the RSPCA were involved, this is a legal fiasco. I believe it's PROVEN that the RSPCA lied about the status of these horses and fraudulently tried to claim stabling costs. Will they just get away with this? No wonder witnesses became "unavailable" to testify at the appeal, I think it's called perjury!

The article says that "the fine and costs are waived" but someone has to pay the barrister's bill and other already incurred costs, presumably the good people who have donated to the RSPCA in the past.

I have long had reservations about the RSPCA: people donate because they want to help the welfare of animals but the RSPCA seem to be more interested in spending vast amounts on political issues eg foxhunting (no, I've never hunted, I don't have a beef about that.)

So, what of the future of this previously much loved and respected organisation? I imagine there might be a decrease in donations, not just because of this case but many other instances where the RSPCA has let animals down. There are many stories throughout the internet where people have rung and asked for help, particularly for wildlife, and the RSPCA haven't been interested.

Who will fill the gap? Presumably the smaller charities but they are unlikely to have the money or clout to privately prosecute in animal welfare cases. AND (this has always amazed me) the State makes the laws, if the law is broken it is the State who should prosecute, not an official charity like the RSPCA.

Just putting my soapbox back in the cupboard ....

What an utterly disgusting mess, I feel such sorrow for the poor innocent horses, dogs and other livestock who were so very badly let down, and suffered in such a vile way, both before and after their 'rescue' from the dire conditions they were found in.

On the other hand I believe the exposure of the RSPCA's behaviour in a number of cases is well overdue. I hope they are prosecuted. I find it incredibly ironic that Rachelle Peel having her conviction quashed could be a cause of this.

Why are the dead horses never mentioned in newpaper articles that were found on their land? I am so sorry for the animals, the owners or loaners, we must not forget evil faces of these people, did all 3 have dementia? I think not!

Goldenmane, the one who (supposedly) had has made a miraculous recovery! Sadly they are just evil people and I hope no one ever forgets their names.

Please, please, please don't ever sell them a horse as what they did is just appalling; wicked beyond belief. they could have sent the loan horses back and we would have bought back our horses but they refused to let them go and lied about them when the owners rang. Diana Whittome tried to buy her colt back as she saw him at a show looking very poor and they refused to sell him back. They knew exactly what they were doing but thought they would get away with it. They only looked after the horses Evil- sorry typo, meant to say Evie - wanted to ride to glory.
