I have just googled him and found this (you will need to scroll down a bit): http://www.shahim-al-nakeeb.com/news.htm
At the time he was owned by Claverdon Stud. How on earth has he managed to end up at York sales? Scary times we are living in. Can anybody help this boy? Wish I was closer and had transport... |

I saw him as a foal at foot and he was lovely. He was for sale later for (I think) £6K but didn't sell. Not sure where he eventually went but he wasn't very big as a foal and if he is 14 hands now he is unlikely to make more than another inch or two and he certainly won't be 15 3". His sire, Shahim, isn't very big, I am told about 14 2". He was at Malvern as a yearling or two year old and came about sixth in his class; can't comment on him as I wasn't there but asked a friend as I thought he was a really nice foal and I am into SEs so was interested to see how hw turned out. I am sure he will be nice.

The advert I have found for him they are asking £4000. It is the same seller as the wording is very similar to the description given in York Sales catalogue, also the advert is dated 4th January 2013. |

Such a shame he has to go through a sale like that. I think they are being a bit ambitious asking £4,000 for a 4 year old gelding tho, not many folk with that kind of money about.

He certainly will not make that at York Maybe they would consider drasticallty reducing. I have not seen an Arab make more than £1K at York in the last 10 years |

Will you lot behave yourselves!!! I really don't need another horse - unless it was a filly?
At the moment the road (A169) is still blocked so I can't get there anyway, but yes I did look at the video, as yes as a foal he was a stunner.
As Susie says I really can't see him making much more than 500 guineas at York? Prob more like 400? Arabs, thoroughbreds and show ponies tend to go for peanuts at York |

Is there anyone willing to contact the owner and ask if there is a reserve on him, and whether they would bring him back if he doesn't make a particular price. I guess this is a nice way to ask if he would be sold for meat.
If I had any room at all, I'd be tempted (though I am not in York).
This is exactly what I worried would happen to Esme. She was a beautifully bred mare that was both unridden and had sarcoids. I can't see how she would have done well in a dealer's yard and may have very well ended up in an auction. Of course, with sarcoids she may not have found a home...
I really feel for this young gelding, especially as I like the little ones. I don't think Esme is more than 14.2, though her passport says 14.3. You get a lot of horse even in these small packages!! |
