My favourite colour is a dark liver chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail, although you don't get many of these in Arabs, Welsh C's and D's but not Arabs!
I have a liver chestnut 2 year old but she is now going grey
I also have 3 other greys, all different shades and I am longing for a solid colour, any colour but not grey! Thats not because I don't like grey, I like all colours but I don't like anything wishy washy.
I do have a soft spot for falxen mane and tails and deep red/bronze chestnuts.
I like black arabs but for some reason a bad one looks worse in black than in chestnut and chestnut looks worse than grey.... if you get me?

As far as fashion goes I have noticed a deffinate change in colour trends at shows over the last few years.

For example at this years Devon County Show all the mares 4 years old and over were grey but there was a mix of colours in the youngstock classes and both the yearling classes were won by chestnuts.

I can understand how people favour certain colours and you can't say they just collect horses of one particular colour regardless of quality because I think everyones goal is to breed the perfect Arabian whatever the colour.

It does seem that up to 3 or 4 years ago grey was the ultimate colour to have and although grey is still popular, chestnut has started coming back into fashion with horses such as Kubinec and Padrons Psyche.

And now as has been said black is becoming more popular with horses such as R Magic(BNC) and AH Kuda the latter particularly impressed me at Malvern last year.

Fleabitten Grey is my favourite colour and I would love to own one but I would only have a horse of the type I liked not just because of its colour and I have seen some bad examples of the nicest colour.

I can't find out any results for Wessex but there was a lovely chestnut yearling filly that took the female championship at Devon County this year called T S Halinaah by Psytadel out of Amoraya. Could it be the same filly?????

Hello All

Ever since I can remember I dreamed of owning a horse, I not sure at what age I found out about Arabian horses but the dream became an Arabian Horse and it had to be black, the sort that would bring tears to your eyes, he was to be a Stallion. I believe the books by Walter Farley had a profound influence on me. He'd love me above all others and guard me with his life etc
The reality is that as I came from a non Horsey back ground and we weren't wealthy, I had to wait a long time to start fulfilling a dream.

I finally acheived my dream, a dapple grey polish gelding, who fulfilled the love and protection dreams, sadly I lost hin due to OCD related problems.
Then along came Elle my beautiful Gucci Russian mare, chestnut in colour
I love her to smithereens

However I still dream of that black boy, are they very expensive? I would prefer a gelding in reality. I would not be bothered to have a top winner, just a friend to love and endulge and pamper, so if there ever a spare anywhere please contact me

Bye for now Amanda
