Shortly after having my horse P.T.S.(my best freind ) I went to the uffington white horse and i sat in its eye and had some special and spiritual thoughts about my lovely pure bred Sheddad who i had then only recently lost.Iknow it dosnt mean nothing to you people on here , but it does to me |

oh i think we all share your sentiments about it though. when we had to have one of our mares pts a few years ago it had rained non stop for days. as she slipped away the skies broke a little and there were rainbows all across the valley. my son said they were to help her to heaven. i've never been able to look at a rainbow in the same way.
i've not had the pleasure of seeing the uwh myself but i'm told it's a very special place to be. so it's understandable that it would mean so much to you. |

the uffington white horse is in oxfordshire about a mile and a 1/2 from uffington village. there are lots of theories as to why it was carved and by whom. but in all the research i have done it seems that it's about 3000 years old and was worshipped by the celts. there is also alot of discussion about why it was carved where it is rather than further down the slop where people could see it better. but i have some of my own theories on the matter (not that they may have any significense at all, but thoughts that work for my book).
i'd love to go and see it some time, so us going together would be great! |

Thats lovely that it is so special to you Arabian girl. I totally understand why, I think anyone who has had to have there special horses PTS would understand why.
I think i remember seeing it as a child. Many many years back lol
Good luck with finding more out about it and enjoy your visit to it when you get there Suneanarab and Cassy |

I went there several times in the 90s while at UNI having read about it and Waylands Smithy. I remember reading that the pimple of a hill in front of it on the other side of the road is called Dragon Hill. I reckon that is as good a place as any to view it from. I distinctly remember seeing bats both times I was there around dusk as well as standing in the eve of the horse and turning round three times. This was supposed to be a fertility ritual. Not I might add that I wanted to get pregnant at 20 years of age. More of a bet this does not work type thing.
Come to think of it at the time I was single so not really any chance of it happening. Anyway I digress. Would love to go back some time and to Avebury.

Hi all,, as i said in my last post, after losing my special friend (the grey in my signature pic) i went to Uffington especially , reading about it again on this post has brought back my feelings of when i sat in the white Horse of Uffingtons eye. I found it to be a very magical and spiritual place to be and i hoped i absorbed good energies from the white horse,, only me and the white horse of Uffington knows my thoughts and the way i felt at the time. Sounds strange but i felt "at one " with the horse world...Good Karma |

I also while i was there went to the stone circle of Avebury,,,very spiritual, i also went to West Kennet Longbarrow.....you can feel the energies coming off these very sacred stones and the ancient buriel grounds of west kennet,,amazing places. I went into west kennet, and a man was asleep in there(it looks like a cave , doing no harm ,,people must stay in there as there were lots of candles lit in it , (not me though)people go to these places to seek good energies and spiritulism. there is something special about the sun that rises over west kennet, it lights the corridors in the cave up for a certain length of time, apparently it was built like this in ancient times to accomodate the sun...google it,,most interesting |

Go and sit in the horses eye , like i did..no one told me to do it,, i just did it myself,,, felt i could connect to my lovely horse by doing this, and i felt a warm glow,, might sound silly to most people but i felt connected and it was all part of my healing process go and see and post back on this thread when you have been....go to the other places i mentioned....regards Lynne |
