for when Rachelle Peel goes to court, it was supposed to be March and we haven't heard anything? It would be great if the long wait was finally nearly over and justice was seen to be done.

That woman should have been a creative bloody writer! At least that way the fantasy she created caused no harm. She's shows real signs of psycotic tendencies. Vile creature, and people wonder HOW owners and breeders were sucked in...this is a prime example

Well Barbara that says it all about that woman, what a load of rubbish. I know her from way back and she was then and still is the biggest b***s****** I've ever had the misfortune to meet! That she would know how to be compassionate is laughable. Reading the 'post' reminded me a bit of a seedy novel only she was talking about a horse....well I suppose that says it all!

What a load of boXXXks!! He was so lucky they didn't buy or swap. Barbara, stay strong.

This is her post, is one single word of it true? Should be easy to check as we have a date and lots of details about the horse. Such a loving, caring person, NOT.

and I just can't get it out of my head.

We're nearing the end of the eventing season now and everyone is using these last few events to relax and have fun.

We were out today with Harley (he did fine)

Parked next to us was a wagon with two adults and a boy of about 9. The woman (wife/mother) was riding a jaw dropping warmblood. You know when a horse just has that "special something" - well this boy had it. The most elastic paces I've ever seen.

They were on roughly the same time as us and as we were warming up for dressage, we got talking to the man (husband/father) and we were each admiring each other's horses.

I said I thought the warmblood's paces were fantastic and he said something like "well they should be, he cost enough". Then he went on to say that the horse was only 5 and a "complete nutter." I looked at this magnificent creature, floating around the dressage arena and I just smiled.

At show jumping the same horse was there and boy has he got a jump on him. Then the man asked how much we would want for Harley. Needless to say, I told him he wasn't for sale. Then he said he'd do a straight swap - his "crazy" horse for Harley. I was a bit confused because all I'd seen so far was a lovely young horse with amazing dressage and scope to burn show jumping.

Harls went cross country (sadly a stop at the top of a bank because he thought the long shadow cast in the bright autumn sun made the jump look bigger - no problems when Evie tickled him and put him at it again! Harls just being green!!). Anyway, as we were washing Harls and giving him his carrot, again the man came over and said we didn't know how lucky we were. I didn't really know what he meant. Over the commentary we could hear that a horse was having problems early on in the course and having repeated refusals.

As I started to walk a freshly washed, bandaged and iced Harls around, I saw the man standing at the back of his horse box holding the young warmblood, still fully tacked up for cross country. No sign of the woman. We put Harls away and I grabbed a carrot and went over to next door's horse - the chap was ignoring it and I thought at only 5 the horse deserved a bit of a pat and encouragement.

I walked up to it and it was standing with its head drooping. I ran my hands up his face and over his eyes and down to his cheeks and then I kissed his nose. I've never, ever seen such sadness in a horse's eyes before - he looked right into my soul. I told him how beautiful he was and said I was sorry I hadn't seen him go cross country but I bet he looked wonderful. The man just snorted and told me that the horse had been eliminated.

When he told me that, I just started tickling the horse's ears and telling him not to worry, that he was wonderful anway and I gave him the carrot. He never broke eye contact with me.

The man told me that the horse is always getting eliminated cross country and he gets so excited, he just naps and gets multiple refusals. He described this behaviour as crazy. Laughing, I said, don't say things like that in front of him. But the man just said that when the horse gets eliminated they don't speak to him, they just put him in the horse box on his own and put the ramp up and then he's put in his stable with no evening meal to "teach him a lesson."

All the time he was saying this, me and the horse were just looking at one another and I rested my forehead against him and whispered to him. The man stood back and said he couldn't believe what he was seeing - that the horse was being so gentle because him and his wife just think it's crazy.

Just after that, the wife arrived and when she saw me and the horse she said I could have him (she offered to swap for Harley) and then she said that she would have to sell him because he was useless and no good. My heart bled for this poor young horse who hasn't done anything wrong but be a baby.

She went on to say that she's been called into the secretary's tent and disciplined for mis use of the whip and abuse of the horse - seems that when he'd had his final refusal she'd beaten him quite badly and yanked him in the mouth - the fence judge had made her dismount.

All I keep thinking about is Heron at that first event when he shook because he hadn't completed the course and how we still gave him his carrots and lots of hugs. And look how he's rewarded us - he's been a super star and he's bonded so closely with Evie.

What is going to happen to this poor, defeated 5 year old horse?

I can't get the image of his eyes as I rested my face against his forehead out of my mind. So, so sad and so, so lost.

I asked Stephen if we could buy him but he said if we do that all we'll be doing is putting more money in their pockets to go out and ruin another perfectly capable young horse.

I just don't understand and this poor horse must be so dreadfully unhappy. The really sad thing is that the family had no idea that what they were doing is wrong. I asked them if they treat their son the same - when he comes home from school and he's made a mess of his homework, do they send him to bed with no tea and give him a slap or do they help with the homework? I said it's just the same with a young horse. The man said "oh, I hadn't thought of it like that!"

They said they'd never seen the horse so relaxed as when Evie and I were stroking him. He didn't want to load and we had to help put him back in their lorry. It was horrible and I feel so guilty.

That poor horse - whatever will become of him?

I feel sick."

Well, we know what didn't happen to him; he didn't starve and die at the Peels or be shot by the RSPCA.

Most people want to follow dreams doing things with horses but realise they can't afford and would forgo any public glory to know that the animals they own are safe and looked after at home. None of the Peel's are blameless and should be brought to task again in front of a Judge who is not asleep when the evidence is shown. Also I would like to know how it was proved in court that Stephen Peel is seriously ill as he could obviously drive a horsebox and still can the length of the country.

Couldn't agree more. I assume the Peels identified the horses who were in Evil's name; sorry typo, that should have said "Evie's" name!!!

It is an appalling case but the only good to come out of it that those of us who lost horses have found some lovely people here and on our closed group on FB who have shown great empathy with us and mantained a dignified silence about it all until it was safe to show the revulsion we all feel fer the evil Peels.

Again, those of us who lost horses thank you from the bottom of our hearts for you support; we have all cried rivers of tears, still do as we have not seen justice, many of us don't even know when or how our horses died, we just know it would have been of neglect and starvation. My little mare was prone to mud fever on her two hind white socks so presumably she died in pain and hunger with no kind words of comfort and this from an evil creature who was always blowing her own trumpet about how wonderful she is. I will try and find a post she put up a few years ago, unbelievable.

If anyone wants to offer help in any way please contact me in the first instance by pm and I will try and give more info on how we plan to go forward on this. I do not plan on putting it on an open forum where it can be read by 'anyone'
Thanks

Good idea debs, I did it last week. The RSPCA are acting in her name, and she should bee aware of their actions.

As well as writing to your MP what about the queen?

On the H&H forum, someone said that 4 horses had been returned to Evie Peel....Harvey, Legs,Neville and Joules. Would they be the horses you saw up there. Strange that the rspca were able to identify those 4 horses as belonging to Evie Peel but were unable to identify any of the others that were on loan to the Peels. They were happy to release horses back to the same environment they'd been taken from, but not willing to listen to other people wanting to claim horses back!!! Strange affair all round, a case built on lies from both sides. I lose faith in our justice system.
On a happier note it was nice to hear that these lovely horses will be remembered forever. It may have been a hell-hole when they were there with the Peels but sounds a lovely environment now they've gone.

"It is unbelievable what has happened and for Doug and Gabi to see a photo of their horse as one of the ones who was shot when they knew she had been rescued is really terrible. Diana Whittome's horse was also rescued and then shot; she tried to buy him back as she was worried about him after seeing him at a show in poor condition but the Peel creature refused to sell him to her."

My heart goes out to you; that just has to be, well, just the most awful ......so very sorry

This evil woman must never get away with this sort of thing again. My beautiful Crabett mare, Sunlea Darreana (Darjeel/Sunlea Golden Hanella, a Ben Rabba daughter, stable name Tara, is one of the missing horses.
She had two white hind socks, maybe that is why she is missing, Pop, as it is easy to miss place socks!!!! It is unbelievable what has happened and for Doug and Gabi to see a photo of their horse as one of the ones who was shot when they knew she had been rescued is really terrible. its outrageous
Callisto Posted - 22 Sep 2015 : 7:20:24 PM
I suspect it depends on which individual representative of the RSPCA attends. This filly appears to have had close links with the vets that first treated her - it's their receptionist who has rehomed her. Perhaps they refused to put her down?

Exactly what criteria do the RSPCA use when deciding whether to pts or not?
there seems to be no logic ....

Just thought in light of the RSPCA's actions in this case, the following. This was on BBC news:

catherine1960 Posted - 21 Sep 2015 : 12:49:06 PM
DM have already covered it and a follow up yesterday. H & H I believe are also printing something not sure what

There is the route of a judicial review which will cost money or a private prosecution but that would cost thousands and if say we lost the case then we could end up paying them compensation! Judicial review might be the better option, and if that gets won you might have the chance of seeing their sentence increased but its all down to evidence and how its presented and if we have new evidence then so much the better, BUT it will all need collating and working on and honing until its right, there can be no slip ups a watertight case had to be built no I undotted no t uncrossed it has to be as perfect as we can make it and you're going to need legal counsel as well.............
seasider75 Posted - 21 Sep 2015 : 10:25:37 AM
Can nothing be done to get this case 'revisited'. Is there no way the outcome and sentence can be re-assessed. Is there no way of appealing the sentence, or would that be down to the rspca, who for obvious reasons want this whole sorry, disgusting affair forgotten.
Is anyone in contact with H&H or DM? These beautiful horses should be shown as they were before the Peels got their grubby little hands on them and not just as the sad animals they were when they were removed by the rspca. People should be able to see what neglect and starvation had done to them.
I'm with you Barbara in believing there will have been others who sadly met the same end.
barbara.gregory Posted - 21 Sep 2015 : 09:05:48 AM
There were even more horses. I am convinced of that; these are only the ones we know about. Many that she bred are likely to not have been registered so when they died their short, miserable lives went unnoticed.

Extract from an email to me from Rachelle Pell on 16/06/2006
"I used our SE boy on a little CaspianxWelsh pony of Evie's just to make sure he was fertile before I spent the money on getting him licensed. So he became the proud father of a little chestnut colt at 5am this morning. The foal has such long, long legs it's actually taller than it's mother (who is only 11.1hh) and it's having difficulty learning to lower its head to suckle. Then my Cleveland Bay x Arab (long story but the result of me desperately trying to get a foal from my very first Arab who wouldn't breed!) - she had another little colt at 5.30am this morning. He's beautiful - dark bay with a star right in the middle of his forehead and totally chilled!"

This was before my court case when I was ordered to hand over my mares daughter!

What bizarre behaviour from the RSPCA inspector.... I wonder what, if anything was going through her mind?
