I hope you all like this photo of Aboud and Gillian taken approx 1988 at the nationals. This stallion got me in to Arabs in 1989. Which horse was your inspiration?

Posted - 17 Sep 2012 : 4:35:42 PM Sab2 your mare is so beautiful and how exciting that she is getting the Aboud spots!!
When they are that gorgeous, they are allowed to be "old baggages"!!
More photos......PLEASE!!!! |

Posted - 17 Sep 2012 : 1:18:47 PM Thankyou Kirst for your lovely comment, i love this mare even though she can be a bit of an old baggage at times, she is starting to get white spots on her neck just two at the min but now i know where they come from she also has quite a lot of white hairs on her quarters. |

Posted - 13 Sep 2012 : 10:51:56 PM How lovely and nostalgic to see how Arabs were, and how they were presented. It has all changed...
Jude can you put on the pic of you riding Diamond Star on the country road? |

Posted - 13 Sep 2012 : 1:53:14 PM I have an Aboud great grand-daughter and she has such a look of Diamond Star. It was more a person who got me into Arabs, than one particular horse. My old riding master up in Todmorden always had a few Arabs in his riding school (1960's 70's) and once we knew the basics, we were allowed to ride them. I rode his stallion, liver chestnut - never knew his stud name but stable name was Chips. I had never ridden anything like him in my (short) life (I was about 10) and from that point onwards I was smitten. By chestnut arabs particularly. I now have 2 chestnuts - one the Aboud great grand-daughter and the other a Golden Samurai grandson. |

Posted - 13 Sep 2012 : 12:13:54 PM I think everyone that was at Malvern in 04 when Aboud arrived late with Barry and wasnt allowed to compete in his class, but was allowed his trot round, would remember it. He completely stole the show. His coat was the most amazing colour and his white spots were all over him. He knew he was a special boy |

Posted - 30 Mar 2011 : 5:38:01 PM My old boy's dam is a three quarter sister to Aboud and very similar in type, she will be 28 or 29 this year. It's lovely to see these pics of such a classic ginger one! My lad is by Melchior and has turned flea-bitten grey after being born chestnut, he will be 24 next month.
The Arabs that got me into this sphere of the horseworld were the fictional Black Stallion, and my cousin had an Arab stallion that she bred a few foals from in the 70s, he was called Reshie but I don't know anything more about his pedigree offhand, he was a rich red bay. |

Posted - 26 Mar 2011 : 8:30:36 PM I used to have a part bred, but i think it was a pure bred gelding which a then friend owned that made me realise i wanted a pure bred. His name was Ramannie not sure of spelling he was a big chestnut. I dont know why but think his breeding was grogec and chystal magician lines. I swapped when out riding with her and after riding him i was totally hooked. I have always had pure breds since |

Posted - 25 Mar 2011 : 11:54:35 PM Vik1 if you Follow this link http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/bey+shadow3 and put your cursor on the little photo symbol next to his name on the top middle of his pedigree you will see a photo of him. If you select the little i in a circle it gives you additional info on him. He's my bay boy's grandsire
Love the photos of Aboud. |

Posted - 25 Mar 2011 : 10:38:33 PM Ill be quite honest, I dont know a thing about arab blood lines. Ive always been drawn to the arab, although Ive had horses of all types over the years from a Highland, Heinz 57, warmblood, TB and arab x. Think the arabs that made me take note were the ones used in the film The black Stallion! Dont know who they were. I just remember sitting being glued to the tv.
Bey shadow is my boys great great grandsire. Ive not seen any pics of him tho. Saw a pic of Burkhan, another of my Storms great great grandsires and thought he seemed very impressive. |
