I
had the very great pleasure of visiting Om El Arab in 2002.
I have to admit I had always admired the 'Om El' horses and
it was like a dream come true to have the chance to visit the
stud. The whole trip from start from to finish was so exciting,
Jay and Sigi's hospitality was never ending. The horses were
amazing and it was nice to see so many famous horses in the
flesh, all looking in fabulous condition and all, I have to
say, very much loved.
Shaheen
strutted his stuff into the mare barn and I was gobsmacked
he was so in proportion, his body was faultless, he certainly
was a real eyeful. Jay posed him up and that was it for me,
I was immediately in love with this horse, not only was he
the perfect type, his body was the best I had ever seen and
he
was the
sweetest
most lovable stallion anyone could wish for. I also knew he
would certainly compliment our mares back at Silverdale. Well,
now was the hard bit, persuading my husband and my mother that
we needed this horse!!
I
have to say it didn't take me too long, my videos and photos
must of done the trick!!!!! Our very close friends Tony and
Eliann Rodgers of Artizana Arabians also decided that they
would like to be partners in Om El Shaheen, so from then on
things moved really quickly and it was only a few of weeks
later we picked Shaheen up from the airport.

He
did take a very long time to settle in. It was a bad time
of year for him to arrive as the weather was cold, wet and
very miserable. Jay told me Shaheen had never experienced
being
cold let alone getting wet!!! I was in contact with Jay and
Sigi almost every day as I was so worried about him, he just
seemed completely shell shocked, but as time went on and
the breeding season came, Shaheen made an amazing recovery
(typical male!) He was still the perfect gentleman to have
on the yard, you would never believe his temperamen. Shaheen
absolutely adores my daughter Megan, she spends hours pottering
around him and he seriously never moves a muscle he stands
completely still and just nuzzles her , there's not many
stallions you could trust to do that.
Shaheen's
first breeding season in England was very successful although
we only had colts, Lynda Free was the lucky one to
have the one and only filly. We had colts out of Pure Polish
Ewoluta, he is called Emir Ibn Shaheen - watch out for him
he's really special, he is a tall, elegant, chestnut(!!),
has a fantastic
head and neck and moves for fun. Shadeen is out of Nazieka
(Om El azadik x Libanon Esplashall) he is extremely typey
with
an amazing attitude and oozes 'panache'. Thee Gladiator is
out of LC Gabrielle ( Padrons Psyche x Garmon), and Shah
Mahaal is out of Saszarta (Elart x Sasza).
This
year we have had 2 beautiful fillies one out of G.Shyamasri
( Ibn Estopa x Omel Shiva Estopa) the other out of Kubinaia
(Kubinec x Nazieka) both these fillies have extreme type, bodies
to die for and a trot that never stops. All Shaheen's foals
have amazing attitude,
very high tail carriage and are all very light on their feet.
The natural showy attiude is what makes a good show horse and
if the attitude is not there then it is virtually impossible
to put there. We have also some more colts, Saszarta, Nazieka
and Shifali but all are top notch colts so we can't complain.

Shaheen
has only been shown on a few occasions. Last year he was
1st and Reserve Champion at The Arabian Horse Festival at
Lingfield, 1st and Male Champion and Reserve Supreme Champion
of the show at The UK Gold show and 1st at UKIAHS. He also
excels under saddle, he was trained western style
at Om EL Arab. Not being the most couragious rider I decided
to give it a go and put the saddle on him. Wow he was amazing,
it was like sitting in an arm chair, he was so quiet and
extremely
sensible (which suited me!!) I think Megan prefers to ride
him than her little pony, I can't blame her, he is a lovely
ride.

So
on top of all this Shaheen is a fantastic horse, his pedigree
is amazing, he combines the best bloodlines with Sanadik
El Shaklan, Carmarge and Estopa - these all make the perfect
match, type, good conformation, strong limbs, toplines and
bodies like you've never seen before and attitudes to burn,
but most important a temperament, so trustworthy and reliable
it's unbelievable!!
