I have recently found out that my young Arab was sired by Sky Eagle (by Silver Blue) and have been informed by the AHS that I would need a covering certificate from his owner before they will match my horse's DNA sample against his.

Sky Eagle is, I believe, no longer around and I have no idea who his last registered owner would have been :S.

Any guidance would be really appreciated.

Many thanks!

His dam, I'm told, is Saphira by Ahmoun.

Sky Eagle used to stand at Steve and Erica Parsons stud in Somerset based on the Somerset levels, but I think moved down Devon way and focused on breeding straight egyptians using the Ansata lines. Not sure their contact details or if they still breed, your horses is very well bred Sky Eagle is from a good race and endurance family and Saphira is a lovely crabbet line that has produced some good show and endurance lines.

Sky Eagle (foaled 1988) was by Silver Blue out of Sky Cinders (Indriss x Sable Sky (Gerwazy)) I was lucky enough to own his half brother Sky Cymbal (by Sky Crusader) & saw Eagle when I visited the Marchioness Townshend's Sky stud at Raynham in Norfolk, when he was a youngster. He has a daughter listed in the stud book from 2003 but I don't have the next volume so can't check if there were any more. Several of the Parsons' horses went to France.

I too saw Sky Eagle when I visited the stud at Raynham back in the early 1990s. We looked at some of the youngsters they had for sale, also saw the legendary Sky Crusader in his walled paddock and were taken by Mrs Palmer to see Sky Eagle, and another horse whose name I cannot remember, in the beautiful old fashioned stables near Raynham Hall.
Eagle would have been about 4 years old and he looked stunning, although smaller than Crusader as he was bred differently.

From the EGB archives I see that he did three endurance rides early in 2003, the first one of which he passed, the other two he was vetted out lame. They were all the west country: Looe Valley, Quantocks and St Meubreds and his rider (not necessarily owner) was a Diane Curtis. He was still a stallion.

Not sure how helpful this is but it proves he was down that way ten years or so ago. Perhaps as Angela suggests, he did go to France.

Thanks for all the posts here. I got caught up in my other thread and forgot to check back - lesson learned to open one thread at a time!

I've replied to your post on my other thread Hullaballoo :). Many thanks for your help!

From speaking with Parsons and looking at some old posts on AL I found out Sky Eagle was sold to a lady in Devon. Through a contact of mine who knows the lady who bred my horse (who is also the lady he was seized from by the RSPCA), I then found out that this lady was also the owner of both Sky Eagle and my horse's dam. This is the Diane/a Curtis who Hullaballoo mentioned.

My Arab was bred by Diana Curtis in Devon and has been aged at 4 :).
