I have been thinking about this for some time, I have 2 free horses or I should say I have been given these horses, 1 I had on loan from this site and was then given her, a pure Arab mare, she was 11 when I got her and she is 18 next year, the other is a yearling filly, standard bred.
What free horses have you got!! and how did they come into your possession!!
I will post photos tomorrow of the yearling (Peaches)
This is Lemura or aka "Tamaura"

I have a Pure Bred mare that the owner could not sell as she several sarcoids. I got rid of them but the owner never kept in contact so after 9 years I felt that she was mine. She has been a cracking endurance horse and still is competing at 22. I first had her at 9 years old.
I also have a little New Forest Mare that again the owner did not want. She was 12 when I first got her and she is now 24. |

Do cheap horses count my arab was just £200 I suppose just because of how bad the market is and selling a very green youngster isnt the easiest thing. But she is priceless to me and the best thing iv ever done
Ah what the hell, edited as I try to be diplomatic, you never know who is reading and didnt want to offend anyone but im having one of those days where you get annoyed with always been nice to people lol
She had gone on loan view to buy to someone who had done to much to soon considering how backwards she was and she got a bit defensive and put the person in hopsital apparently striking out at people. She has never been anything but a pleasure but she had her wall up a bit when she came and had to be given a bit of time but its paid off now though im not sure if iv accidentally got a large poodle |

Well they all look fantastic, the best horses I have had are the free ones, and not because they are free but I think they find you!! Lemura had loads of problems but she has not shown much of those to me, and I have enjoyed riding her for all those years. Often my friends want her as she is so good, nothing I have done, but enjoy her. She had gone through a few homes before I had her and I will keep her till the end as she gets very upset if she goes any where. (at stud was a nightmare) |

Well I swopped one. She is a horse I wouldn't have looked at but she fits me like a glove and after the challenge of gaining her trust we are progressing nicely. |

This is my free horse, she belonged to some friends of mine and they gave her to me as shes not an easy horse and they didn,t ever want to ride her again, every day with her brings its challengers but i wouldn,t part with her for the world.I did however repay the gift as they now have my TB gelding who they love so it all ended well for both of us in the end. |

The love of my life came to me "free". I had him on loan for a year first, and then bought him for £1 (well, my hubby gave me the one quid, so it's still free to me!)
Sorry, photo overload. I don't post very often and this was some of this year's highlights and wanted to share them. Just love this horse!

I was given a very lovely correct TB filly out of racing, dark bay 15.1hh gifted to me as a 2 year old and turned out with Zarello to relax. She will be 4 this spring so I am hoping to have her brought back into work. She is lovely, really beautifully put together and has the most perfect floating trot. No lumps, no bumps no hangups....Just not fast enough for what they wanted |

I have just got around to adding the photos of Peaches, I had forgotten that Lemura did not like to be left on her own and I had sold the foal (was now a 2yo)as she was going to be to much for me and I could never see my self riding her!! I started to look around for a companion and saw the add for Peaches for £100.00 on phoning the lady said that she was now free, she looked a nice type and very sweet. I have now had her about 5 weeks. She dose have sweet itch and some scars on her, so I will see how it goes in the summer, I will rug her and keep it under control if I can!!As she is only a yearling I have all the time I need and hopefully she will keep a full mane and tail next year.
