I would love to start endurance with my mare but have no transport so thought a good way to get involved to start would be to volunteer, I have contacted 2 groups in my area about a month ago asking if they need volunteers and no-one has got back to me, am a bit surprised and thought they would welcome volunteers or could at least let me know if they dont want any,are they just too busy to reply or what? NOt sure whether its worth pursuing further, shame really.

How rude of them, i know most groups welcome help, maybe their rides have been cancelled but i think it still would of been polite to get in touch with you. Please don,t let it put you off , whereabouts are you ? |

I'm in North Yorkshire. If local groups don't want help don't want to be travelling a long way to groups further away so not sure what else I can do :( |

Hi,
Most groups are in some level of disorganisation at present due to so many rides being cancelled/postponed/rearranged and rearranged again due to venue ground conditions.
However the next ride in your area is this one: http://www.rides.endurancegbneyorkshire.co.uk/resources/SledmereSchedule2012.doc
This gives the contact details of the Organiser who is very likely to be completely delighted with a volunteer!
Good luck and enjoy! I enjoy helping and also crewing almost as much as i do actually competing, fortunately I get enough chances to do all 3 several times a year!

I would say please don't be disheartened, although it is a bit of a facer when you offer your help and don't get a response - I'm pretty sure that down here they'd have bitten your hand off! |

Hi Hazelcat74
Just checked our messages and can't see any evidence that it's our Group that you've tried to contact so I'll be cheeky and ask if there would be any chance of you helping at the South Yorkshire EGB ride to be held on the 9th of September on the outskirts of Doncaster?
The venue field is just up on the right hand side from Station House on Elmsall Lane, Moorhouse, Doncaster, DN6 7HB.
West Riding Group of EGB would love to have you as a helper (and anyone else that can be pursuaded to help). Contact Kerry on 07818 283144.
