Just had to post. Having had a difficult three months culminating in vets bills, massgage therapy and a new saddle for Laddie we went on our first outing together yesterday. We had a fab ride ...12.5 miles around Bewl. It was a drizzly day so kept us cool. Laddie was an absolute star behaved impeccably and went like the wind. So happy!!...but Just have to find out a way to load him now...took 1.5hrs in the morning and half an hour coming back!!....Have no idea why he suddenly wont go in. He doesn't appear worried ,frightened , agitated...he just "plants" himself at the edge of the ramp and just goes in when he feels like it and stands happily once in. He hasn't had a bad experience to my knowledge and has only done this once before which was about 6 weeks ago when we went to get new saddle. That time he only took 20mins to load and walked straight in for our homeward journey.Up till now he has always loaded. Any ideas??.....ooh and btw we do try the titbits and food temptation but that doesn't work. I don't believe in smacking him but a raised voice did the trick yesterday afternoon
Maybe try putting his front feet on the rammp by picking them up and placing them on then get someone to gently run a lunge line round his bottom and just keep it taught, we have found this a good nudge for those that just plant themselves, nothing too vigorous but a 'push' often works when a pull is a no no. Glad you both had a lovely day.

Well after one week I now have a little "star" that loads. I just don't know why he decided he didn't want to do it but with patience and lots of practice Laddie has now decided it is not such a bad idea to load. We did our first ride of this season on Sunday and apart from riding in near monsoon conditions we had a lovely ride and no "loading" problems at all. Here we are ...new saddle was fine and Laddie seems fit and happy. I am one very happy bunny!!
