Hi
well due to weather and work ive not ridden my girl for probably three months maybe a bit longer!!
I have got on her in the school just walking and small trot though that was more her than me
but after the third time she went lame i admit very very unlike her but i couldnt find any source of pain and she seems to be sound now 2 days later. So i guess she just twinged something!
The problem i had on sunday was she was a little excited about being ridden and wanted to leap about
i am tempted to lunge her but feel she may prat about on the lunge and do some damage! I cant ride her out as she would deffinatly be a bit
not really sure which route to take if ridding her gently is best or lunging her ?

I would lunge her if she does scoot around it is only going to be like her running around in the field, safer than trying to ride her in that state of mind, if mine are off work for whatever reason I always start with lunge work for about a week then start to ride at walk first of all for at least a few weeks, they go on the walker for 20 mins a day too, I would even lunge before I got on if I thought they may be a bit fresh better to be safe than sorry.

I would hack her out a walk for two or three weeks (depending on how frequently you can ride) - could you hack out with a quiet companion to steady her and give you confidence?

I'm going through the same thing, although under guidance from the vet and i've been told to stay in the school for at least the 1st week and no trotting on hard ground or roads for a month! (But this is due to his suspected Low Grade Lami 6 weeks ago, rather than because of his Ligament)

Shesky loves to He is such a Toad!!! I can normally sit to most antics (Pasha has taught me well over the years ), but Shesky developed a new ping on all four feet, spin and straight into rodeo across the diagonal on Monday night I thought I was a gonner and was soo busy giggling I nearly hit the deck again when he stopped!!! I did have an exercise sheet on, as it was cold, but last night switched to using his Back on Track rug and no buckaroos, so hope i've solved that one!

My plan is to walk week 1, building up to 30 mins. But I can't ride every night as I don't have time (especially once i've put all his protective equipment on - and mine lol) so going to lunge him tonight and Friday. Then plan to hack out twice at the weekend for 30 mins each time.

Week 2 I am sticking to walk (hopefully) in the school 3 times with 2 lunging sessions and 2 hacks of around 45 mins each... yes he is going to be worked 7 days! Poor boy!

Week 3 I am going to start trotting in the school and maybe canter on the lunge and then the 2 hacks hopefully will be longer, but still walk only.

Week 4 is building up the trot work and I hope to start cantering week 5.

Got 6 weeks before our first little outing, I hope, so plan to get him fit for that all being well.

Sarah x
