How do people go about finding grazing? When I started looking in January I thought it would be easy - how wrong was I!
So far advertised on nfed, and put adverts up in the local village shops - any other ideas?
Cheers Susi

Hi Susi, Not had to do this before but what about trying local farmers, they may have a spare field that they are not using or may know someone who has. Also, ads in local tack shop, ours has a big notice board, always loads of horses for sale / livery yards / grazing / rug washing etc ads. Good luck Nikki x |

Saturday's job!
As need to find grazing before my new girl arrives, to join Cinny, in mid April.
So excited about this, but marginally panicking about the lack of grazing!

When i was younger i used to get the yellow pages and go through all the farmers asking if they had any grazing available, they were always very helpful and if they didnt have any very often they knew someone who did! and now i just put into google.. good luck xx |

I did see some advertised in your area it was on nfed but just checked and its gone ! how far do you want to travel ? best thing to do is check in local feed place every few days and nfed on a daily basis as places go so quick i've lost out on a few places recently because i was only checking every 3 or 4 days on line ! |

Checking nfed 3 times a day - almost obsessively!
Will go up to Pardys (feed place) on Saturday and see if they know of anything...
Probably don't want to be more than a couple of miles from home as been pampered this winter with Cinny being on DIY 2 mins walk from home, which was fab in the snow... |

Until we moved house I had a 70 mile round trip to see her at weekends (week days she was sort of on my way to/from work) and she was on DIY - so having her so close has been lovely!
And as one chestnut girl (Cinny) wasn't enough I thought I'd get another! |

Although convenient I don't like where we are for Cinny and for how other's treat their horses there.
At the moment they just think I am an endurance weirdo with the only horse that isn't a forester. I have cultured this over the last 3 months as I want to be left alone. I won't let anyone handle Cinny there as they are way too handy with their hands and whips for my liking!
It was only ever supposed to be temprory until I found a second horse to come and join our family so I could go it alone with my girls. Also my new one is a youngster and I wouldn't want her there.... |

Well today we had success - the advert in the village shop paid off!
Grazing 1/4 of a mile from home - I can do what I like, so paddock paradise on it's way, mains water, a hay barn and space for my trailer Oh and 5 mins ride out on to the Forest - YAY!!!
So can't wait for April now when I take it on and new baby arab and Welsh mountain come to join Cinny and me!
Thanks for your advice, but panic over! |

Yes - looking forward to having a whole gang - but 3 is enough for me for now. The Welsh will make a fab little companion, but very excited about Cinny's new arab friend.
Will post pics when the 2 new girls arrive |
