This may be something of a long shot but I'm trying to find out any history on my gelding who I brought recently.

He's 13.2hh, six years old and unbroken.

He's not registered but I believe he was bred by an arab breeder in her eighties who unfortunatley died and consequently all her stock were sold off.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Claire,
what area are you, and do you know the old lady/arab breeders name and area etc????

Where did you buy your horse, and who from??
All these small things can make a huge difference.

I brought him from the Tamworth area in September, from a girl who originally brought him to bring on. He had been turned out for most of his life and not done anything and I think she felt sorry for him.

I'm assuming the stud would have been somewhere in the Midlands area though I don't know for definite, and I don't have a name for the arab breeder but apparently she did show her arabs and was quite successful in the show ring.

Sorry I don't have any more information. I know it's not much to go on.

I wonder if he could be from Tadsor stud.
Hilda didnt pass on though, I beleive she is/was in a home.

If you put a search in for tadsor stud in the archives claire, something may just be jogged in your memory, if he is indeed Hildas breeding.

Good Luck.

Thanks for that Pat.
I was given a lot of conflicting information when I brought by horse so I wasn't sure how much of the story was actually true.

I did an achive search which brought up an interesting thread on Tadsor which mentioned 3 stallions that needed rehoming.
My gelding was known as Squirt originally and I'm wondering whether he could be ''PRINCE RADIATTORD'OR'' CHESTNUT 1996 as I was told he was one of the last to be rehomed.

Hello Cetan. i think that your gelding could indeed be Prince Radiattord'or. he will be quite interbred to El Attorlando and Radience ( both of whom i was fortunate enough to see in the 1970's). i bred a part bred by El Attorlando who is now 29 yrs old.
As far as i am aware his breeder is in a nursing home in Leicestershire. i think the horses were taken in by a yard at Packington under the BHS Welfare scheme.

Claire,
we think Zara is right, can you mail me please, with your email address, Mines is on my profile, (just click on my name) and it will come up,

These very old, good bloodlines, are much sought after, as you must have gathered in the archive threads.

Cheers.

Thanks so much for all the info. It really is wonderful to uncover his history and bloodlines and it's definitely given me a better understanding of him.
And thanks to Danni for directing me here as I didn't have a clue where to start looking!

Sarah, I'm based in Staffordshire (Stoke-on-trent) and you're more then welcome to come and visit him.

This is the most recent picture I have taken last weekend when we had the frost.

I thought Squirty was foaled in 1996 which would make him 9 not 6, also I thought he was still entire, at least he was when I last saw him and I thought someone had attempted to start him under saddle -but he was a really difficult horse.Plus I thought he was registered?

I do hope it is him, it would be wonderful to think he had a kind loving permanent home at last. It does seem a co-incidence that he was known as 'Squirt'.

I was offered the mare Sharondara by Hilda but due to a pending legal dispute I could not take her.
I have been unable to contact Hilda and last I heard she was in sheltered accomodation in NW Leicesterhire.

Hi am new to this site. Saw your message re gelding. Hilda contacted me about 3 years ago re colt called'squirty'. I had just lost my stallion and put an obituary in AHS mag and she rang me from that. She sent me photos which I returned so cannot be sure, but the face marking looks similar to what I remember. From memory I think she told me he was 6, was broken - as were all her stallions- and in full livery somewhere near to where she was living. She sounded very frail and said she was living in sheltered accommodation in or around Ashby de la Zouze (not sure of spelling) Leics. I did have address which might be able to find. In the end I decided not to replace my stallion and didn't go to see Squirty. The registered name I am sure was the one in previous posting. I often wondered what happened to the horses. Hilda did tell me that her old mare went to a lady in Scotland. Glad he's got a good home. Gloria

I dont think squirty was backed, but the two older boys were.
Sarah has agreed that he is who he is, and I would think Hilda wouldnt pass on his registration, due to her circumstances.
Little bits get added and taken away when its hear say only.
I dont mean that in a nasty way.

Sad story all round except for the happy endings for the boys.

I hope to go and see him after xmas, perhaps the same time as Sarah.

Pat
