as they say, you shouldn't have a lion or a tiger as a pet, no matter how nice you are to them, they will alwyas retain their animal instinct, eg to kill.
you see pics on here of people and their pets getting on well together, including dogs and cats, cats and birds, cats and rabbits etc. as the title says, you cannot trust any animal and i have learnt this the hard way.
i have had my hamster for 13 months now. she was always shut in my room so that cats couldn't go near her just incase. well over the past couple of months i have started to leave the bedroom door open as the cats wanted to sleep on my bed. the youngest of them Alfie who will be 3 in january had always taken a liking to my hamster (skitz) unless she was in her ball then he would run a mile. but when he was in there, he would sleep near the cage but never go up to it.
i came home last night for my parents to tell me that Alfie had got the cage open, and they found him with Skitz dead in his mouth.
this is a warning to all, we all get comfortable with our animals and say 'no they would never do anything, i know my animal', well i thought i did. Alfie had no reason to kill her, he has access to food all day. but as my parents said, i cannot blame him as it's just in his instinct to kill.
RIP Skitz

Too true !
In the last fortnight I've been kicked in the pelvis by a idxcb, trampled by 2 elderly TB's and stood on by a warmblood!
And everyone of them truely are the NICEST horses you could imagine!!
Just circumstances, and I am- believe it or, not very careful as I'm self employed and run the bloomin yard!!
Needless to say, I will be even MORE careful from now on [(
The ones that are flighty we all take extra care around, it's the quiet ones you have to watch! [( |
