My Mate Sam that i worked with sadly passed away on the 06/12/08.
after our work's do on the friday night, the boys including Sam continued after into the night drinking etc. Sam was left at 3am sat morning at the train station to make his way home. he feel asleep at the station and when he awoke, still drunk, he lost his footing and fell onto the track infront of a train.
it has been so weired here these past couple of weeks without him here. we do know that he had a very good night out with us and died a happy person.
His family our over from Australia as he was here for a couple of years to work. we are all going to his funeral today to support his family.
like the title says, i have never been to a funeral before and i don't really know what to do/act.

As you are a friend and not a relative I would NOT go in BLACK.
It is his life you should be celabrateing not his death, remember the good things in his life.
There is normally a bit of a do after the funeral where you will meet his family and friends.

You are LUCKY that this is your first funeral? Ive been to what seems like hundreds, my Auntie's, nanny's, 2 uncles, Mother in Law ,various friends ,great aunts (2 of) ,never ending list in fact its a great occasion when i attend a wedding!!! Its not really a long affair just sad especially when the deceased is young.at the wake, (Afterward) is the time to meet family, chat and remiss on the past. my advice is celebrate your friends life,he would not want you to grieve im sure (( )) |
