I have to admit I joined just so I could enjoy the Guess Who thread & had a story I wanted to add regarding one of the last photos posted.

I finally received confirmation of my registration today (over a week after I 1st signed up for an account) & found the Guess Who thread closed..... I was sad.

I wanted to see if a new one would get started? I would to continue to enjoy it.

I also wanted to add the story I had for that photo posted of Viginia "Pidge" Wood on Little Liza Fame (Fame VF+ x Katahza by Aza Destiny), famed dam of Marwan Al Shaqab.

Pidge owned Liza when she was named National CHampion Futurity Filly & when she was named Reserve National Champion Western Pleasure Junior Horse. Pidge sold Liza to His Higness the Crown Prince Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani. Pidge was one of the 1st American breeders to utilize Marwan Al Shaqab. In fact, her 1st Marwan filly, Star Of Marwan, was double National Champion Futurity filly this year, her full sister Adhaba Al Shawab sold to the Sheikh last year & he also purchased this year's full brother....whom is nothing short of spectacular...& quite possibly could become Marwan's finest son.

Here is the full story about Liza & Pidge from our website:

Many say that the mare Little Liza Fame… is the most acknowledged living matriarch within the Arabian Horse Breed. Those who will contest this assertion might bring up great claims of the virtues of other great mares. Whether she is… or whether she is not, could be the heated argument of many a student of Arabian Horse genealogy and historical accountability. The fact is… the greatness of a mare should be marked by the impact of her truest purpose; her produce… whether it be one foal or many. With this as the most legitimate measurement… Little Liza Fame… could very well be the most acclaimed living Arabian mare of her day.

Virginia “Pidge” Wood is unique… as a person, as a horseman and as a Breeder. She being the Lady with the “golden” eye… the designer/decorator’s touch for the finest of detail; always seeking the most lovely of Arabian fillies.

Initially, upon her “finding” the Arabian Horse Breed, Pidge Wood purchased her first National Futurity Filly contender PS Bey Elation (Bey Shah x VP Elation by Litigator). She went on to win both the U.S. & Canadian National Futurity Championships the following year.

Little Liza Fame was her second National Champion Halter Filly and later became the first Fame VF+ offspring to win high National honors by becoming U.S. Reserve National Champion Western Pleasure Junior Horse. She & Pidge had started something… that would propel her sire to become the greatest sire of Western Pleasure Horses in the history of the Arabian Breed. And… as noted before… she would, years and a half world later, give birth to a son who was capable of bringing new life to the heart of an emotionally & economically encumbered breed & industry. The colt that would be known to the world, simply, as “Marwan”! A colt that would stir up the soul & will of the Show Ring and the hearts of Breeders worldwide. A colt who was the son of royal parentage: the son of Little Liza Fame.

The Goldwood Farm’s next acquisition was… the notorious “Black Mare”… NV Natasham. She would fulfill the goal her owner sought as a Breeder. The Black Mare would, again, win National Champion honors for the “Futurity Queen” and then open the door for Pidge to become an internationally respected Breeder.

The direction of Pidge Wood quickly turned from buying “stars” to breeding Stars. NV Natasham, the Black Mare, would be bred to the great Fame VF+ son, LBA LodeStar+++ and produce an exquisite chestnut filly she would name GW Natorious Star. As irony would portray… GW Natorious Star would be one of the first North American Mares bred to that son of Little Liza Fame.

Star of Marwan… is now, writing the next “important” verse to what any true Breeder would acknowledge as a most beautiful song. This late summer, Star Of Marwan honored her breeder & owner by becoming the 2007 Canadian National Champion Futurity Filly.

BUT… the beauty of the song has one more wonderful refrain! On a beautiful Indian Summer day, in Albuquerque, NM, Star Of Marwan entered the very same “stage”… the stage on which her Sire & Grand-Sire’s “stars” became the brightest. There, she contended for the “holy grail” of Breeders: U.S. National Champion Futurity Filly. One more phenomenal song for Pidge Wood… the uncontestable “Futurity Queen”.

Star Of Marwan… U.S. National Champion Futurity Filly!
