Hello all fellow arab enthusiast,
Would just like to shear with you my visit to Prince Khalid's Al Khalidiah farm yesterday- home of as most probably know, some of the worlds best show-horses...
Unbelievable fascilities- unbelievable horses....
I guess what blew me away the most, was that they have grass paddocks for the horses (remember this is far out in the desert...), where they use football field grass, which they change every week, to provide the horses with green grass...
They have also got their own hospital, where they do insemination and embryo transfers!! Swimmingpool and tread-mill, and there is even a Zoo, for the prince's own pleasure, with zebra's and girafes+ lots of other animals- in the middle of the desert!!
Later we had a barbecue and a little party with the arab horse-boys and the vets, (my connection to this farm is the vet who come to my yard), and heard a lot of great stories about their travels with the horses and show-records :)
will try to post some piccies on here later on today.
Tove :)

Hi Tove,
Yes I have know Mario for a few years, I met him at the yard I am stabled at. I flew out there on my own (Very scary), but was met by one of the Prince's secritary's, if he hadn't have been there then I am not sure that they would have let me out of the airport - they are really strict aren't they! Yes we should definately meet up at Towerlands! |
