Hi Ryans Gem
It's seems we all have one
She is easy to take out to the field but to bring her in again she has to be the last and even then it takes a lot of persuasion,
she wears a head collar all the time and a piece of bailing twine attached, she doesn't try to run off once you have a hold of it, its just there to make life easier for us,
I hope things get easier for you

I think you are being very fair and honest, so resfreshing to read. Hope you find the right home for your filly.
We have a Tersk bred mare who herself is hot as can be in the sand school or paddock and when you ask her to trot or show off, but a gentle sweet natured ***** cat in her stable, her daughter is exactly the same. From day one the daughter (and mum) would let you do anything with her and still does. Very, very calm and sweet.
Also my Russian colt foal who is hot and showy in the field, but again easy and sweet in the stable. I just work around them day in day out , poo picking, I am very quiet around them, they soon get used to this silly women shuffling around them with no expectation that they are going to be hassled or caught up or anything.
Only first thing in the mornings when it's time to go out, do they expect to be handled and caught to have their hats on for a day in the field.
I think these hotties, like to be ignored and then they come round of their own accord, don't rush them. Thats what I find.
They do have the heart of a lion, but soon melted to become the greatest of friends.

Hello Lynn yes we all have at least one naughty arab Neo used to have a naughty strap that used to go on his headcollar when he was being really hard to catch when he was good it came off and when he was bad it went back on again thankfully it hasn't been on for a while now Only one day I was so glad I caught him with the lunge line as he did a series of handstands, cartwheels and rodeo bull manouvres but thankfully there hasn't been a repeat performance so far I think it might be a good idea to breed Madam to a 100% crabbet stallion next time he/she might be a little saner and have less of her hyperactive temp in him/her. |
My horse is my very best friend. Nothing in the world can separate us. When he dies I know he'll be waiting for me at the gate... just like always.

thanks for the pictures, you have some gorgeous horses for sale this filly is an absolute stunner am sure she will come right with time i thought that my andi filly would be an absolute nightmare but the parelli training has really worked wonders with her so much so i had the vet last week for their jabs and the vet did it in the field!!! before her training she would hit flight mode when ever any stranger went near her i am being trained by the trainer now in this and it is wonderful but quite hard!!

Linda she is very pretty, I have a bit of naughty chestnut mare,But hers is only in the stable when she wants to go out or when the others in the field are taken away she can be stressy. To hack out she is an absolute star even if others take off she is like dizzy day dream I did sell her once and ended up buying her back as i didnt want her passed around as the person was selling her in foal. I think i am going to try to find her a breeding home next year as she is an excellent mum and she thrives on it but like you know it will have to be the right home. She has given me the most sweet little filly with a lovely temprement. Good luck in finding her a great home |

I own such a crazy lady, too. I bought her when she was weaned. Although I knew Arabian horses for over 25 years I was really shocked about her power, always waiting to blow up. In her calm times she was the sweetest nature. At first it was hard for me to handle her, but I learned so much about horses natures from her. Now she is 6 years old and she cooled down a little touch. I know about her feelings and I know how to handle her, she has much more liberties than the other horse. For that all she loves me, she follows me like a little dog. And I love her. Sorry to say, but I love her much more than my other 2 cool mares. |
Have a nice day Marion

Hi,
Thank you to everyone who has enquired about Nadynaa,
I think people think I am telling stories! She is making a bit of a fool out of me now
My daughter has been taking her for walks around the big field to build her confidence and she is now trotting around inhand and enjoying herself
She has been so different this week, maybe she just needed someone to spend a lot of time with her,
I will take a picture tonight,

Just want to say that although my mare is a total cow to handle most of the time at home, away from home she is actually much more pleasant as she is out of her comfort zone. She thinks nothing of rearing or tanking off if something upsets her at home so when I started to compete her at endurance I was slightly apprehensive about what behaviour I was in for but she is actually more in tune with me. This might be the case with your filly. |

linda im so pleased to read this thread. I too have a Speial boy (only word that fits). I have put him for loan on the ads section but also feel people should know the truth and i feel so much better saying it having read about everyone elses personality quirks. Este too looked at me like i was trying to kill him when i bought him a new headcolla and lead last week! his was old and hard so i turned him out with nothing on (he is easy to catch Canters up to me and stops) nipped into local tack shop next morning went into feild he spooked so shaply i thought he would fall over and gallopped around his field snorting like a stallion in the ring???? He also acts like he has never seen a rug even tho ive rugged him since he was a day old. He is good to lead but if something scary happens (i put the rubbish out so the feed bag full of string is gone) the boy needs to be standing where you are and get past it asap with his eyes closed. Saying that he loves to work I tack him up and he stands there do his girth up (he dances) He long reins great and leads around being leant on with foot in stirup. He has been sat on 10 x ish and didnt bother with that at all. So many of your storys ring true (front feet fine back feet please dont) its reasuring to know there are people out there that have the same thing and have the time to put into these special horses. I hope the right someone buys your filly and that there is a loaner out there for este too. jacki |

Hi everyone
Just a note to say that I have had my black arab mare for sale for a few months now and have been totally honest about her personality, her level of fitness, what she likes and doesn't, what she's done and seen, etc. Now don't get me wrong she is a lovely sweet and affectionate mare 13 yrs young and just starting to grow up, but when she gets stressed she's runs on the spot, kicks out and just wants to flee.
I have had people to try her who say they like a challenge and a horse with spirit and the first little bit of playing up - O'h too much horse. Also buyers are not honest about what they want - I had someone come and then say she wanted to do dressage - that's not what she does or would enjoy - I have tried to point out that it's endurance she loves, but they don't listen.
She is also very un-fit at the momet and I had a lady come and say she's very un-balanced, but I did say that she was totally un-fit and had not been ridden for ages - she was however a perfect angel on the hack out - it was only when we got back to the field full of young calves that she did her fruit! But really what do you expect!!!
Totally disallusioned with buyers at the moment! |

Yes with the head colla thing i dropped the new one caught him instantly with the old one then clipped on the new rope after 5 mins off puffing i put the new colla over the old swapped the lead to the new head colla then slipped the old one off! telling este just how clever he was (what did he do???) "looked at me like i was mad and did the hole i knew it was just a head colla whats all the fuss about?"
They let us know in their time when they are ready we just need to be listening
i wish it was easier to find them new or tempary homes but not everyone does understand them
I guess thats what makes them "SPECIAL"

Clare is a lovely lass linda, and a fellow committee member of the North Staffs Group.
The filly will be very well cared for, and I look forward to seeing her.

Hi,
Nadynaa has arrived safely in her new home,
Huge thanks must go to our vet and BLUEROSE horse transport who showed tremendous patience with her, she had a good loading experience and travelled well and then just walked down the ramp and into her stable
Enid and Norman form Bluerose kept me informed thoughout her journey,
It seems our little filly is quite sensible after all
Good luck Clare and have lots of fun with her,
