Ok, so i have a friend who is quite novice with horses, she has a 16yr old fab section A for her little girl. And as my friends now i am quite famouse for getting bored on the weekend and going on adventures, usually involving horses, also how i came to meet Claire and Purchasing H Tamina lol.

So for a few good weeks she has been taking a look at some horses that she is thinking of buying herself as she also now wants a larger one for her to ride. Nothing around at the moment. She rings me Saturday morning and says she is bored what shall we do, i said we could pop up the dealers "for a look" in which case you can point out and tell me excaly what you dont want. I pop up there about once every 2 or 3 weeks and they call me the arab lady, any arabs they get in they call me to come down and take a look. They think they are wild and wont handle them lol.

Nothing here, but standing in the corner was this huge 16.2h Bay gelding with his head on the floor, he is so so so poor with only 1 front shoe on and nails still left in the others, he is skin and bone but seems so harmless. We left thinking about him, Popped to Towerlands yesterday morning and then went back yesterday and bought him.

Im under no illussion that we could get him home and he would turn slightly wild but who cares, im sure we have just saved him from the meat man, my friends has purchased him with the view of me bringing him on for her and if he is suitable then fantastic, if not she will either keep him as a pet or find him a nice home. Ill post some pictures later we are going to pick him up about 1.00 today.

FFS Robin Hood??? I know what I'd like to do with a bow and arrow...people like him make my blood boil. But the worst of it is the fact he will get away with barely any punishment. Unlike the horses.

Just read the BBC page (provided on the link) and surely there is enough to prosecute this bloke on the passport issue alone? Actually, it makes you glad for the passports after all, cos that is definite, legal and no-question-about-it prosecutable offence: after all, I should think it would be quite easy for someone to 'get off' a prosecution for 'selling horses that are not the age stated' because it's not that easy to age a horse (yes, I know, claiming a horse is 10 when it is in fact 20 is not such an easy mistake to make, but you see that I mean: it would be quite easy to let a non-horsey judge/magistrate/jury think that it really is very hard to accurately judge a horse's age - which it is - and fudge the issue enough that there was sufficient doubt to convict).
And even prosecuting for the 'not fit for purpose' could be relatively easy to wiggle out of (Oh, he's never kicked/bitten/reared/bucked/bolted with me, must be your rotten riding etc) - but no passport? Can't pretend that one away! Saying the purchaser didn't ask for it (or want it) won't be a defence.

And it also goes to show the value of complaining to the police about situations: even if they can't do anything about 'your' complaint, they add up...

People beggar belief. Quite apart from any humane considerations, one could make far more money as a decent and honest dealer than as a crooked and cruel one - and be able to sleep at nights.

Thanks peeps, got him home safe and well what a well mannered gentallman, he was frightened and scared but was pleased to be in. We let him settled and gave him some hay. As we were leaving we gave him some short feed, not much even though the buckets are huge. God he woofed it down and begged with his front legs all the time.

I was pleased with him, the people were good after leaving them a £100 deposit yesterday we was hesitant to leave him another night but got a reicpt and passport.
Can i just say, this is a awful place with awful state of horses but i have seen them come in and out on the lorry and they are under no circumstance put in that way becasue of the people and they have an every after supply of hay and water, he was rugged and in a barn.

As with the passport issue, a friend i know took a horse to the sales and had a passport done then and there, to me what is the point of having them done as when they go to the sales this is what happens.

Does anyone know a Samanather Wells ?
Im sure i have heard her name, he has also been to Ashford Sales so poor boy has had it hard, must be something wrong with him, ill wait to find out.

Please see pictures below, the camera does give him a little better condition than what he is actually in.

Lauren
Be careful how much you feed him initially, also use a very mild wormer like panacur guard. Any sudden changes in feed amount/quality can cause more harm than good.
I've taken in dozens of rescues and its always best to take things slowly.

Congratulation on your new horse.

To be honest i was expecting much worse when i opened the pictures you put in here.

I dont think he is critical skinny, hes coat is short and shiny, his feet are not long and broken, and also he seems to have a bit of muscles on him.

Wont take long to get him 100% normal looking again

As said before, the camera does actually make him look better, ill try and get some more on him today but the coat is not shiney, just the lightas they are low and taken in a barn. His feet not to long but he has only 1 shoes on which is over grown and the other of his feet only have the nails in. He isnt terribly skinny, does have some muclse on the back end.

I will post more images tonight, we will get him out tonight and give him some brushing and TLC so hopefully we can scrub him up a bit and get him looking a little smarter.

He is a stunning boy but at the hieght of 16.2h with no shoes on or any muscle and me being a 5ft1 i dont know how well it will work, never mind.

At least he is home safe and dry now
