Many good performance horses can trace their bloodlines to Oran, including the following Premium Stallions.
African Gold
Arioso
Cherif
Dadia
Dhruv
Dorian
Fairlyn Gemini
Magic Farouk
Maxilillian of Oakwood
Medhar
Mihyar
Sisyrinchium
Vivek
perhaps others might like to expand with information regarding these Stallions and their prodgeny.

Oran is my boys grandad!! His Dad was Ayton Rebel - Anybody got a picture of either of them?!

What an eye opener!!!

Had a spare hour this morning and just spent the time looking through our pedigrees and am amazed...

Taragun has 4 crosses to Oran
Templars Cultured Pearl (Molly) has 8 crosses to him (she's a BIG girl and is currently at stud and hopefully will carry my first Anglo)
Templars Orchestral Pearl (Harley) carries 9 crosses to him
Last Crescendo (Cresh, our senior stallion) carries 4 crosses to him
and to my absolute surprise, Star Ascendant (Scottie) our little, "forgotten" stallion carries an amazing 11 crosses!

Linking this to the Scindian Magic thread, my all time favourite is his sire, Indian Magic and once again, Scottie has surprised me with an incredible 11 crosses. Harly has 9 crosses, Molly has 8 and Taragun has 4!

Oran was also the sire of Noran, who sired the Olympic Silver Medallist showjumper Rex The Robber (Alwin Shockemohle).

It should be noted that Oran was bred by Lady Yule, not Lady Worthworth (although he stood at Crabbet) and that he was one of the last asil stallions of all-Blunt breeding alive in this country.

Opps, missed out a generation! Silvern Dream was the dam of Silvern Idyll (owned by the Duchess of Rutland), who in turn sired Indian Idyll

One of my advanced endurance mares has Oran on both sides of her pedigree, twice on her sires side and once on her dams side.

Sire's Side
Gleam of Flame x Silver Flame x Indian Flame11 x Nerinora x ORAN
also
Gleam of Flame x Silver Flame x Silver Ripple x Silver Vanity x ORAN

Dam's side
Masbut Bint Malika x Crystal King x Indian King x ORAN

My adv endurance & AHS premium mare, Clutha, has Oran thro her maternal grandsire, Hanif (by Silver Vanity who was by Oran).

Oran also sired Slivadoris, who in turn sired the legendary Silvern Dream. Her son (& still standing as a stallion), Indian Idyll, was a very successful racehorse.

Lucky me I have Clutha's daughter by Indian Idyll growing up in the field to do endurance when she matures. Oran both sides can only help her.

Our foundation mare, Miss Ola (Ayton Rebel x Lola) was a grand-daughter of Oran. She successfully competed at open level showjumping. She was twice bred to Crown Court who also traces to Oran and their two daughters, Sirocco Masquerade and Mistral Whisper, in turn, have bred us many successful competition Anglo and part breds. Miss Ola was also bred to the TB, Loudoun Lad, and the resulting filly, Silverfrost Fantasia, went on to have a very successful showjumping career. Our breeding programme is very much based around the Oran influence. Our up-and-coming coloureds, Ruby Shy, Incandescent Flame and AKA Starbuck's Champagne Star all trace back to Oran through the dam line. We have several more waiting in the wings from this line and they are all natural and effortless jumpers. Watch out for Laguna Flame, Whispering Chinook and Starlight Dancing in particular.

Symphytum (Dhruv x Sakuntala) brother to Sisyrinchium. Ridden & in hand multichampion at affiliated level.
Registered with British Dressage in April 2009. Competed in 14 affiliated tests, 8 wins, 2 seconds, 2 thirds (& two unplaced - lusting after coloured horses at Area Festival!)Finished season with a win in his (& my) first attempt at BD Elementary level.
Has overcome the handicap of being trained & competed all his life by his amateur owner!

Another full sibling is Salsola who is a succesful endurance horse. Also Sidalcea who, according to her owner, spent her life being so useful that she was never bred from - unfortunately an all too common story "those that can, do, those that can't are bred from"!!

They are all also 1/4 Courthouse via their maternal granddam Sceptre as well as having Oran blood via Silver Vanity.

Dhruv is, in my completely biased opinion, unsurpassed as a dual purpose sire getting both show & performance winners. The only horse who would rival him would be Imad, also a premium sire & also no longer with us.
Who will be the next elite performance sire? Any ideas? (of course I'm putting my money on Sisy who has Ballota competing at top level endurance as well as his Part Bred & Anglo stock doing well eventing)

I am very interested in Russian racing and Russian breeding. I am torn between racing and breeding a Russian mare at the moment. My strong belief is that we learn most things from history and therefore to lose it would be a great shame.

Thanks for the offer Vygoda

another performance horse tracing to Oran is
Silva Dollar who is a premium stallion & an advanced endurance horse.
Also 2 of his sons were advanced endurance horses:
Silva Lightning 1990 bred by myself Lisa Smith.
& also
Phoenix Boy.

I have Mary Bancroft's book on British racing - in it are stallions and mare families. If you don't have a copy, will try to scan and post.
Mary also did a book on Russian racing, and world wide racing.
Any interest?
