in the summer i had a person arranged to come and meet my girl who is for loan/sale .
i spent an hour in a carpark waiting for her to arrive so i could take her to meet my girl, she didn't turn up or ring, and i didn't bother to contact her.

i've just readvertised my girl, and i've had a message off the same person, asking to loan with view to buy for 2 or 3 months and to move her to a different place (the person is local to me)

not sure what to do, would you give them the benefit of doubt and give them a chance?

Nikki ..... take heed from my experience, (see entry for Celtic Treasure today) and be very very careful! Go by your gut-feeling. Don't dig yourself into trouble! ..... Rose Ennik

I would not bother with the person if couldn't let you know the first time and you sat for an hour and to think how long has the person been looking if still not found one.

Hi Nikki

I would have said to contact her again and find out why she didnt turn up to meet you at the aranged time etc as she may have lost your contact details and may have had a valid emergency etc for not turning up. However the fact that she has contacted you again and not apologised or explained herself for not turning up the previous time makes me doubt her.

You could always speak to her and go and visit the place where she would be keeping the horse that she loans/buys but make it clear that you have other people interested in your horse and see what you think and what kind of feeling you get from her.

But just be wary.

Good luck and i hope you find your girlie a lovely home. Both Cristle and Nakeeta are out on loan at the moment to very lovely homes due to me being pregnant but i was lucky and found homes with the first people that came to see them. There also only a 10 min drive away so i can go and visit them when ever i like.

Glad you did post, Nikki. It confirms what you already knew; the person is not reliable. There is no excuse for not contacting you to explain why she didn't turn up if there was a genuine emergency and she couldn't make it or got lost. I have no sense of direction but if I got lost I would ring the person I was meeting to ask for help and let them know I was on my way. It would have been bad enough to leave you waiting at the stables or at home but in a car park!

There will be someone else for your girl who will really care.

Never be afraid to ask a question! I would be tempted to phone and ask her why she didn't turn up last time and hear whatever reason she gives. I'd then have the satisfaction of explaining exactly why she wasn't going to have the opportunity to do it again!!

just wanted to point out that i care very much about my girl, i bred her, love her, trained her, nursed her, backed her and ridden her on myself. So i do agree with what you are saying.

Wish i never posted now!

I agree with the others, if she didn't bother to explain her reasons for not turning up then she obviously couldn't care less about you sitting there waiting for her. She doesn't sound like she would be committed enough to look after your horse properly.

Anybody who is not so interested in your horse the first time round, who does not respect you, how can you trust them with your horse? WIll she muck her out of feed them when a lame excuse turns up? (And you haven't heard her excuse yet, it might be good)

You cannot take the risk, horses are like babies, their welfare is very dependent on the people who look after them. SHe is definately not the right person for your girl.

thanks peeps, i was gonna say no but my unhorsey mum lol poked her nose in and set doubt in my mind that i was being too harsh.

I'd definitely steer clear of her!

NO!! No such thing as benefit of doubt where our precious horses are concerned. If she couldn't be bothered to call & explain first time round..nuff said

If they couldn't be bothered to turn up the first time then I would defo say no.

In a word - NO!
It is so rude to just not turn up or at least make contact soon after (assuming something urgent had cropped up to stop her letting you know beforehand) - it sounds like she is a timewaster to me.
