Posted - 09 Feb 2012 : 12:05:25 PM Is anyone else tearing their hair out with this snowy weather. All was going well till the weekend and now we are stuck in, unable to ride out/ get in to our outdoor school or do "anything " really. My first ride isn't till 25 March but I do want to get us fitter! Tell me it isn't just us PPPLLLeeeasE |

Posted - 15 Feb 2012 : 12:39:05 PM We've also missed a lot of training time owing to my work commitments and then frozen weather. First ride is 26th Feb! It's only 20km and not too hilly so I've decided we're going to go and do it anyway and if we make the time, great. If not, well, it was nice training and a fun day out. |

Posted - 09 Feb 2012 : 7:26:26 PM We're entered for the 66k at Tilford, so hoping ice goes soon!
At least we started training mid December, knowing that at some point we always have to take a break due bad winter weather .
Callisto - supposed to be helping at MOT day, so hopefully see you there. |

Posted - 09 Feb 2012 : 5:01:40 PM Whilst in NE Scotland we can ride, its 6 degrees and raining- welcome to our usual world in winter, early spring!!
Don't panic a week or two off won't cause a big problem and is much preferable to trying to get out when the ground is dangerous and injuring you or the horse.
If its just the ground that is solid and a bit slippy but its safe to load and travel and you have a beach nearby head there- thats what we did on Sunday :-)
Indoor RC training nights at this time of year are also a god send to me.
And if the snow is soft and fluffy go and ride in it- its great fun! |

Posted - 09 Feb 2012 : 2:00:38 PM I daren't try and get Lily out - ice everywhere, got the truck out of the field today in case the EGB SE MOT day is still on on Sunday, but frankly I really don't fancy a 2hour drive with Lily in the back, given the forecast that I just saw on tv.... |

Posted - 09 Feb 2012 : 12:17:55 PM No it isn't just you! TBH I only had a baby training plan because I can't ride out except at weekends, due to work/liver yard opening hours. However I had started to make an effort to go in the indoor school a couple of evenings a week to build up some topline, but haven't even been able to do that this week because of the ice and it's not looking good for the weekend either! Rubbish! |
