Posted - 27 Apr 2010 : 09:33:17 AM It's really heartening to see such kind posts about the part bred arab classes I took my 20 year old boy and had a whale of a time. We took fourth out of five in the part bred 4 yrs and over but we loved every minute. Sadly we were the only competitors forward for the veteran so we got the red rosette and didn't have to do too much running! It was a lovely, calm show and a credit to the organisers.

Posted - 26 Apr 2010 : 10:45:20 PM Jude, i totally agree with you, i think competitors are just choosing shows carefully this year due to the expense involved. The quality was definately there in the part bred in hand classes, the 2/3 year old class was the strongest i have seen for a long time! Massive congratulations to pink ponies for turning out Moon and Lilly to perfection as always!! |

Posted - 26 Apr 2010 : 8:49:27 PM We attended the show with Mr Morgans coloured part bred 2 year old and his new yearling pure bred which was 1st but wish there were more entries. It was the pure breds first ever show and first time off the yard and she showed with such grace and was well behaved. The coloured in the part bred class was 3rd but stood below bob's hack which was turned out beautifull and stunning. We enjoyed the show and our friend done well in the ridden junior rider and under 15hh PBA ant took champion so well done to Skye Holdsworth first time showing with AHS. Looking forward to Malvern. |

Posted - 26 Apr 2010 : 8:04:29 PM Thanks Em, I've been trying to think how your boy was familiar to me and then remember your posting on AL, when he was a foal, so looked him up in the archives. He is still a lovely boy.

Posted - 26 Apr 2010 : 6:21:22 PM Well done to all the winners. The picture of the winning mare certainly doesn't look to lack quality, she is beautiful. |

Posted - 26 Apr 2010 : 4:43:54 PM Mandala (Sue) your mare was beautiful and a well deserved Champion, shown superbly by Mark.
Rafabreeze, I think you are being a little unfair to the competitors who produced their horses and turned up to the show.
Sadly a lot of the Spring shows are not showing huge numbers this year but there were some very nice horses forward and they all deserve praise for supporting the show.
Maybe its a sign of the times - competitors have to decide which shows they can afford to attend. |

Posted - 26 Apr 2010 : 1:45:41 PM I have attended 2 spring show this year and felt Midland had the best turn out of part breds. I expected 1 or 2 to be entered in the 2/3 year olds but 5 to me was a good turnout.
Well done Jean on your win
Arabian Girl - I have a photo of Sue's mare. I will try and upload it for you. |

Posted - 26 Apr 2010 : 12:20:33 PM Jean, I agree with your comments about quality. I show pure breds, and I hate to say it but the quality on Sunday wasnt of the best I have seen. I dont want to take anything away from the competitors, and I will prob get a slating but for me the quality of pure breds (and the quantity) just wasnt there on Sunday Georgina x Just edited for spelling mistake !! |

Posted - 26 Apr 2010 : 12:09:43 PM Well done to you Emily ...has anyone took any fotos of mare in hand classes? Sues class ? |
weirton |
Posted - 26 Apr 2010 : 10:28:37 AM Regarding the numbers of entries in the AA/Pb classes, according to the catalogue ( I can't speak for late entries ) the pure-bred In hand entries were far worse than the AA/PB classes with ones and two's and in three classes none. The older classes were marginally better supported in both sections with 6's and 7's.
The good thing was that in the AA/PB's the quality went right down the line in both classes with even 3rds and 4ths being past British National Champions. The results could have been any permutation. So much more exciting.
Never mind the numbers, keep up the quality, I say, although preferably both

Bob Bates stunning 2 year old 2. Moor Than Handsome 3. Len Morgan's Enchanted Eternal Moon 4. Louise Murphys Spellsbury Significance 5. Not sure of name sorry
