Hi there, I know there was a mention on here before about the benefits of copra meal but I need a bit more advice. A friend is bringing me some to try for my two oldies who I struggle to keep weight on but reading the blurb on the website it seems as though it should be fed as the whole diet plus good hay. I was gonna add a cup or so a day to the feed as a suppliment to the baileys no.4 and alfa beet, corn oil, pink powder and flaked maize. They get a good soggy mush feed twice a day so what would you reccomend I do with the coprameal? Also, any advice on "no bute" as they both quite stiff (25 and 28 yr old pure breds).Thank you!

Have to agree on the clean bowls!! Shantih picks his up and chucks it when its empty whereas before he'd just mooch off after dinner to do something else!

I use coolstance - both my mare and foal love it and i agree it does smell lovely, reminds me of chocolate!

I mix it in with beetpulp (sugar free beet)- soak a mixture 1/2 and 1/2 and feed it with a mix and vit and min supplement and thats it. both my mare and foal love eating it (always clean licked out buckets) and they look fantastic and the foal is growing up very fit and strong.

The other thing I'm looking forward to start doing now the days are getting colder, is because coolstance doesn't take long to soak is to mix it up with hot water so i can give them warm feeds - like us eating porridge!!! mmmmmmmmmmmm such a cold winter thing.

Maybe they mean 2 litres!

I've just looked at the website and I'm not sure this can be right but it says that 20 litres is

20 Litre of NoBute Premium

Our regular NoBute, with the addition of MSM, Glucosamine Sulphate and Vitamin C. For extra cartilage maintenance. Contains Devils Claw.

This product is Zero-Rated for VAT.

Price: £19.94

Whereas the 5 litre is

5 Litre of NoBute Premium

Our regular NoBute, with the addition of MSM, Glucosamine Sulphate and Vitamin C. For extra cartilage maintenance. Contains Devils Claw.

This product is Zero-Rated for VAT.

Price: £99.31

I have read that it is being marketed as a complete feed but I've also read that it is very low in lysine. Pink Powder has very good levels of lysine so its probably a good idea to keep adding it .

I love oldies, lets see some pics

As for 'No Bute', I fed it to Holly as she has a clicky fetlock joint but it didn't appear to do much so swopped her onto 'No Bute Premium' and it seems to be helping her (she's 19).

It does smell lovely, but I haven't tried any yet!

thanks both! By the sound of how it smells I'll be having it for myself! Haven't got it yet as person bringing always too busy but have seen local stockist list so might get in anyway without trial sample if as good as you say.

We have used copra quite a lot with our horses. At the moment we add about half a scoop to a mix for a youngster to keep condition on.
We used it with our arabs when they were racing more as their main food with some extras added to it. I think you can use it however it works for you.

I add about two cups a day to the feeds and mix in coarse mix (which I'm sure I shouldn't but it's all my mare will eat!) - I use it as extra feed as my mare won't eat Alfa Beet or Speedibeet. I do soak it for a few hours although you can feed it dry or just soaked for an hour. So far it seems to be good stuff, althouh I'm now a bit worried about how environmetally friendly it is?
