A HISTORY IN THE MAKING.
BY LYNDA FREE.
Minuette's story starts in 1983 when she
was foaled at the famous Backhouse stud, on Horsey Island
in Essex. She is by the USA imported stallion Silver Scenario,
a Bask grandson, out of the lovely mare Mishna, a Silver Rain
daughter. Which makes her Polish/old English, Crabbet. During
this time she won at many shows, often taking Championships
and Supreme Championships, such was her beauty and grace.
 |
Along the way she foaled many successful sons and
daughters, by Zircon Nazeer, and his father Donax,
it seemed to work as a good nick and they constantly
returned her to these two stallions. I believe the
last of these was the well known (in those days)
Stravinsky, by Zircon Nazzer.
Minuette caught the eye of a vet,
Ms Diana Carr who sought to buy her from the Barham
Hall stud. After much persuasion Diana bought
Minuette in 1991, she bred her back to Zircon
Nazeer once again and produced the lovely Champion
Filly" Fantastique".
|
It was about this time that I came into the picture, I had
heard that Fantastique was about to be sold to Holland and
also going with her was Minuette! I wanted to buy her and
stepped in just in time or she would have been lost to the
UK forever.
Minuette was in foal to Nazdrowie when I bought her and
she foaled a lovely grey filly, who I named Musique ( now
living in south Africa) I returned her to Zircon Nazeer
the following season thinking to stay with this successful
nick. She produced a colt.
The same year I decided to buy a stallion of my own and
start a breeding programme, by now I was hooked! The stallion
was the American import Bambooki! The result of this union
was DF Ballerina, a future champion and broodmare.
| We occasionaly took Minuette
showing and won several times including Malvern, although
a bit arthritic she still managed to charm the judges
with her stunning beauty! |

I realized the successful nick with Zircon Nazeer was co-incidental,
and that Minuette would cross well with other bloodlines as
everything she has produced is quality! To date she has had
10 colts and 6 fillies, 4 of those fillies have been bred by
me, she has given me 4 of each, and she has foaled without trouble
on every occasion!
Although she would love to keep breeding, (the hussy) because
of her arthritis I decided she should end on a good note and
live out the rest of her life grazing daily, sleeping nightly
in her stable, and munching hay to her hearts content. She is
the most loved and treasured mare possible, and she knows she
is royal!!
She has ended her breeding life now and is retired happily.
I am looking out of my window at her grazing with her little
filly Venus Eclipse (by WSA Charismma) born on the day of
the eclipse! by her side, what a perfect way to end her breeding
life, and what a lovely filly!

Minuette is 21 years old now, has had many champion sons
and daughters and is still healthy and happy after all her
achievements. She will end her days with me and I will welcome
anyone who wants to see her! Cornerstone and Queen of Dreamfield
Arabians. Minuette.
