BRIEF NEWS from CHEPSTOW:

1.30 Purebred Arabian Race at CHEPSTOW Thoroughbred Race Meeting, September 9th 2004:

THE EMIRATES ARABIAN AMATEUR HANDICAP STAKES, 16 Runners over one mile and about two furlongs, 10f abt 36 yards)

MACK THE KNIFE made it two wins out of two in recent runs, having won at Stratford on 21st August beating Raihan in the 1m maiden, when just holding off the challenge of the Mrs D Thomas, owned and trained, Fedor Du Bournais (ridden by Mr J White) at Chepstow on 9th September. Having been left in front earlier than planned, Mack The Knife wandered in the last furlong but just held on under Les Jefford, from a determined challenge by Fedor Du Bournais (FR).

MACK THE KNIFE a four year old bay gelding by Makzan - Gas Pepelka is owned by Mr G Cook, trained by Mrs A M Cook and was superbly ridden by Mr Les Jefford to win by a head in this highly competitive handicap restricted to Amateur Riders eligible to ride in International and Premier Handicap Races under the JC Regulations for Arabian Horse Racing 2004. Prize Money and trophy kindly presented by the Darley Stud Management Company Ltd, worth £1600 to the Winner. Miss Moncrieff, owned by Mr E Phillpott, trained by Mr A J Brunton and ridden by Mr P Deymonaz was just over a length away in third place with Don Du Ciel Al Maury (FR), owned by H H SHeik Ahmed bin R Al Maktoum, trained by Mr W M Smith and ridden by Mr S A Walker, two lengths away in fourth place.
