REPORT:

Competitive racing at HUNTINGDON on Saturday 25th June saw the David Paton stable notch a hat trick of wins in the JEBEL ALI RACING CLUB SERIES QUALIFIERS when EL BUBA, ridden by Fred Offord and owned by the BXPS Racing Partnership came back to form and won the 3.00. To add to their success the stable also took third place in the same race with SABEZ, ably ridden by Caroline Stockham, who won the Town and Country Novice Riders Championship last season.
Bill Smith took the opening race with CABENAY (FR), owned by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin R Al Maktoum and ridden by Mr Simon Walker. CABENAY was difficult going down to the start and just as difficult during the race, but under strong handling from Simon (Walker), he held on in a thrilling finish from the consistent MISS MONCRIEF who must surely break her maiden tag in the near future. A Stewards Enquiry into interference by CABENAY against the runner-up after the race was quickly dismissed, but MISS MONCRIEFF did meet with trouble and, although it did not affect the result, the mare ran a honest race and deserves to win a race.

Rob Woollard landed the first leg of a double when riding WA SAVANNAH SUNRISE, owned and trained by Ms C Taylor, to victory in the LARKINGLASS FARM HANDICAP STAKES at 2.20, quickly followed by his second success when riding HARDTOBACK, owned and trained by Mrs J Peyton, in the HAY & STRAW GRADUATION STAKES for Anglo & Part Bred Arabians.

ABRA, owned and trained by Mr B J Boulton, was another winner in the TOWN & COUNTRY FARMS NOVICE RIDERS BANDED STAKES for the promising young rider, Mr Ryan Cummings, who must now be favourite to win the series.
CS CLARION, owned by Mrs J K Farr and trained by Mr G C Farr, took the penultimate race on the card, THE HICHINGBROOKE CLASSIFIED STAKES, under an inspired ride from Phil Collington, taking his score to 7 winners for the season, equal with Simon Walker and David Turner at the head of the Jockeys table. Despite this 2 miles race only having four runners, it provided probably the most exciting finish of the afternoon, with all four runners holding every chance of victory inside the final furlong.
The seventh race of the card was a walkover for the classy DORMAH DE BRUGERE, providing rider Mr Pierre Deymonaz with his 99th winner.
