Rhein maiden was a disappointment, never wanting to race and tailed
off from halfway.Silver Seranade and Chiltern Magic Moment were
never in the hunt. Belle De Jour moved up 4f out but didn’t seem
to stay and will presumably be dropped back into sprints, she ran
well over a mile here last time and that seems to be her limit.
Cassariah was carrying 10lbs overweight and ran up to her form.
WFA
Prophecy ran her best race to date always in the front rank and
keeping on at one pace. Kahrabaiya seems to like these maidens where
he can dominate the early stages and he was clear turning for home
but was collared by the winner in the final furlong. He is a stayer
and seems to like the sweeping bends round Huntingdon.
WFA
Leopard had a nice introduction always travelling well and shaken
up to win his race in the straight. He will improve for the run
and could go on to win middle grade handicaps.

Bree tarkaan led but was challenged all the way into the straight
by Spring Psalm who had a significant change of jockey and for once
was carrying no overweight. It didn’t make any difference in the
vent as he faded in the final furlong. Meanwhile Hardtoback tracked
the front two and came through to win with a bit in hand. He had
been running inexplicably badly this season but it transpired that
he had a back problem and he showed his old form again today.

Phaymon
wasn’t helped by a false start and was never going in the race,Sakit
Sura also continued his poor form and has now dropped 23lbs this
season. Starinsky was held up 5 lengths behind the bunch and was
nearest at the finish. Ermelo ran better than his finishing position
and just about led 2f out but faded in the final furlong. Zak Zak
ran quite well having every chance in the straight but just unable
to quicken.
Tishomingo led
but was headed 3f out and looked likely to fade from the scene but
found a 2nd wind and ran on again to take third close
home. Island Benedict ran another good race over an inadequate trip
and will probably be winning again when he gets a more suitable
distance.
Doraman
had been given a chance in the weights after finishing third more
times than the Liberal Democrats. He was held up and came through
to lead a furlong out and ran on strongly. Now he has got his head
in front he might have the confidence to do it again.

Sanji
led at a good pace and saw off Pavot Al Kyle who tried to take him
on entering the home straight. Fayre Abi was held up and ran on
to challenge a furlong out but never got to Sanji who set the record
for wins (14)in AHS races by a pure bred. The ground was just right
for Sanji who had not been suited by the conditions when beaten
by Fayre Abi at Barbury Castle. Pavot Al Kyle has won at 6f but
his best form is over 10f when able to dominate from the front.
He doesn’t have enough speed to get past Sanji at this trip and
it was a puzzle when the bookmakers tried to make him favourite
to win here.
Fayre
Abi is another with form at various distances and we may not have
seen the best of him yet. Philip Collington completed a treble on
the winner.

Arctic
fire set out to make all but was outpaced 3f out and dropped to
the rear before running on again in the final furlong. He stays
2m and likes a bit of cut.Field of dreams was held up and came to
challenge the winner 2f out but could do no more.
Arctic
fire’s son Arctic Lord was again rather green and will win races
when he learns to run in a straight line. He never got to the winner
in the straight but ran on well and is suited by a trip. Sugar Dandy
again confirmed he has improved this season and that he needs at
least a mile nowadays. He has run at every meeting this season and
hasn’t run a bad race yet.

Time:

They
were started from the 14 f start as there wasn’t a place marked
for the 13f as per the race conditions. This wouldn’t have suited
the doubtful stayer Ares De Chavagne but as it happened they went
a crawl for the first two furlongs effectively turning it into a
12 f contest.
Riverdance
and Majestic Omar were the chief sufferers as they are both proven
2 milers and it wasn’t clear why one or both of them didn’t make
it a true stamina test. Riverdance had to be heavily restrained
in the early stages and was nearest at the finish. Ares De Chavagne
was allowed to dictate the pace until reaching the limit of his
stamina and giving way to the held up Akrotiri 2f out. Akrotiri
wasn’t happy in front and ran very green but neither of the stayers
was close enough to mount a serious challenge, Majestic Omar getting
closest. It wasn’t a very satisfactory race unless you had taken
the very generous 3 to 1 available about the winner.

Floriferouz
led until fading in the final furlong. He is best fresh and probably
prefers sprints. Borago was outpaced until running on in the final
furlong and has better form over 10f whilst Doriket had every chance
but wasn’t good enough.Island Rover ran yet another good race and
just missed out in the photo finish: he was in front until the last
25 yards.
Egypt
confirmed the promise she showed when easily winning her maiden.
She may well improve again.
