RACE SUMMARY

Pharitz Samman was always handy, led 4f out, and ran on well only just being caught close home. The winner Sun Al Maury tracked the runner up and ran on willingly to break his maiden tag. They pulled clear of the others but Babuska caught the eye, dropped out until running on in the straight past beaten horses. China Sky led early on and ran better than her finishing position suggests.

RACE SUMMARY

A race where it paid to be close to the pace, set by Midnight Call. He was caught on the wrong foot at the start but was soon in front, almost colliding with the rail guarding the hurdle course but still leading until the straight.

Pride of James, unlucky at the last meeting here, led at the entrance to the straight and was always in command thereafter, driven out from the persistent challenge of Field Of Dreams who did well from 7lbs wrong at the weights. Spring Psalm tracked the leader but had no answer to the first two whilst the three trailers were always in that position as the leaders never came back to them.

RACE SUMMARY

The race was rather spoilt when Sanji was left 6 lengths at the start, pulling hard in the other direction as the starter dropped his flag. After that Djemila De Leyre showed a clean pair of heels to the two Scottish raiders who are both better suited by a mile plus. Sanji made up much of the ground but was then a spent force and had probably lost interest by the straight.

RACE SUMMARY

There were two number one saddlecloths in the parade ring, one for Desert Orchid, arguably the best chaser since Arkle and the other for Rosilis another perennial champion.

Dessie was at his best at ten years and Rosie showed here that she is still at the top of the Anglo Arab pecking order, going down only by a short head to a rival receiving 9lbs. El Sabio had finished within two lengths of Rosilis when she was below par at Newbury in July but was 17lbs better off here and needed every ounce as they went head to head in the final two furlongs. Rosilis’s defeat couldn’t be ascribed to her change of pilot as she answered his every call in a thrilling dual. Tamagotchi was held up well off the pace until running on through beaten horses in the final three furlongs from 30 lbs wrong in the weights. He looks suited by the extra distance and will undoubtedly continue to progress. Bold Midas got to the leaders at the 2 furlong mark but had no extra and time may show he needs further. Hardtoback was never in the race and will do better dropped in class.

RACE SUMMARY

Segovia Sunrise took the race on and was 4 lengths clear 4f out but L’ Enchanteur Royale has a turn of foot and cruised past a furlong out to win handily. Doraman got into the race up the straight and put up a performance in line with his best. Kahrabaiya’s run is best ignored as he was carrying almost as much overweight as Pudsey Bear.

RACE SUMMARY

Sakit Sura took over from Habibi Bey after the field had started slowly, speeded up and slowed down again. He led into the final furlong but only on sufferance as Darein showed that his years away had been well spent, cruising up to the leader and winning hard held. His appearances may be few and far between but he will be hard to beat on this evidence. Habibi Bey ran with promise and could be coming back to form. Drongo was never in the race.

RACE SUMMARY

Zaminda led on sufferance and was passed by Gaynif 3f out who looked home and hosed. The complexion of the race changed as Gaynif decided he had done enough and the others closed in the final furlong, Obayyan showing the best turn of foot to get up close home. It wouldn’t be wise to conclude that he definitely stays 12f in a truly run race.

RACE SUMMARY

A typically competitive AHS sprint handicap with less than five lengths covering the field. Maximillion again showed lots of early speed but hasn’t yet got his head in front where it matters. He is still young and will start winning as he strengthens. Island Star showed his versatility by having enough toe to lead these sprinters into the straight and keeping on well until headed inside the last furlong.

Bergamot had risen in the weights and was 5lbs out of the handicap but ran right up to his new rating and must have been really unlucky when stopped in his tracks last time. Muhannad looked unhappy early on perhaps feeling the firmish ground which was reported to be rough in patches. He ran on well in the straight and may well win again.

RACE SUMMARY

WFA Lancer was always going a stride quicker than Pleinne D’Amour and had shaken her off before the straight. It was just as well as the favourite hung right and nearly had to jump the second last fence before being collected and winning cosily. Mural-De-Feu was well beaten 3f out but ran on to be nearest at the finish and was probably flattered to get so close.
