ARABIAN RACE HORSES TO FOLLOW 2005

As the 2005 racing season is about to begin I thought I would preview some of the potential stars and possible winners of the season to come. As the race plan has been revised with the new “banded races” to enable all levels to have a fairer chance of gaining a winner and also the new “try before you by scheme” means that people can sample racing at a lower costs before committing themselves and their horses for the whole season. After conducting some research I can reveal the following possible leading but unexposed equine athletes of 2005:


CS KHAN:
Gr gelding b. 2001 by Khairouan x Cikada (Klarnet)
By Khairouan – High class race horse winner of many Grade 1 races and also the Desert Storm twice. Sire of winners – Deolali, Makhai and Sarrafina.
Cikada – unraced but Champion Race Broodmare from 2002-2004 – Dam of Group 2 winner CS Al Wahed (by Bengali D’Albret), Listed Newmarket winner CS Comete (by Bengali D’Albret), Deira Stakes winner CS Clarion (by Chndaka) and International Sprint winner Carrack (by Galeon).
Beautifully bred from a top racing family and yard and one to watch in the maidens.

HEAVENS OPEN:
Bay filly b. 2001 by Saker x Phartiz Maneon (Galeon)
By Saker – predominantly Crabbet / Old English bloodlines, useful race horse who won and was placed at Grade 1 level – sire of Perle D’Azur (dual winner), Spyros (twice placed).
Pharitz Maneon – won several good races at up to a mile and was considered by trainer Georgie Moore to be the best she has trained – Dam of: Kaspa (by Kasadi) won Premier Handicap at Bath and placed 2nd in Group 3 at Brighton.
Beautiful looking, substantial filly from an outstanding family and sure to make an impact.

MOOGALI:
Bay filly b. 2001 by Bengali D’Albret x GAS Pepelka (Pepel)
By Bengali D’Albret won the European Triple Crown twice and possibly the best racehorse of the modern era. Champion sire and Group sire in 2004.
Dam – GAS Pepelka – unraced dam of Mack The Knife (by Makzan) won maiden at Stratford and then won competitive Premier Handicap at Chepstow.
Impeccable pedigree and highly regarded – could be a very useful horse this season and one to watch.

Breeder = Miss. S Wilsher

DANJANI:
Bay colt b. 2001 by Tidjani x Russian Dancer (Dantist)
By Tidjani – High class race horse and leading sire of racehorses and sire of 2004 Derby winner Makfoul Du Brueil.
Dam – unraced by leading Russian Stayer Dantist.
Struggled in juvenile company last year but still managed to be placed 3rd in a Group 2 on Dubai Day but he impressed immensely when up in trip to 1 M 2 F when storming clear in the International Maiden Stakes at Newmarket. A possible for leading honours and has matured over the winter.

ARSENE RUPIN:
Bay colt b. 2001 by Dormane x Djelsomina
By Dormane – Champion juvenile racehorse and leading Group sire in UK in 2002-2003 – sire of sires.
Djelsomina – high class French broodmare.
Won his maiden in a dead heat at Southwell before finding the mile at Newmarket in the Group 1 a little short. Sure to feature in the top class races this season and with top trainer.

Owner = The Day In Toulouse Partnership

KIZHI:
Gr filly b. 2001 by Khairouan x Sucha (Charmer)
By Desert Storm winner and sire of winners Khairouan.
Dam – Sucha won three and placed four times – from the same dam line as Dubai Stakes winner Carabineer.
Well bred and had two educational runs last year and is sure to have learnt from the experience.

SHUDEER:
Gr mare b. 2000 by Vadeer x Hussi
By Vadeer – High class multiple winner in UAE & UK and sire of Breeders Cup winner Simooma and multiple winner Ecliptic
Dam – won AHS Marathon – Dam of Sanji (by Shomran) – multiple Sprint winner rated over 100.
Only ran once last year but showed a lot of promise and sure to be sharper this season and can follow in her brothers footsteps.

MUSHAMMER:
Gr stallion b. 1999 by Passem Lotois x Kawzah Tiki (Flaming Streak)
By French Derby winner Passem Lotois – sire of classy sprinter Balquees.
Dam – won three inc. a Stakes race in USA and placed three times including Stakes races.
Well bred stallion and bought out of Ascot Arabian Racehorse Sale in 2003, not seen last year but highly regarded by canny trainer who thinks he could be something special.

SING ME A SONG:
Ch mare b. 1999 by Tidjani x Sinka (Nimroz)
By leading racehorse and sire of racehorses Tidjani.
Dam – Sinka – unraced daughter of the legendary Stihia – Dam of: Russian Classic winner and Champion Stayer Sambist and Classic winner Artist.
Blue blooded mare bought in the Ascot Arabian Racehorse Sale in 2004 and sure to have been well prepared by talented trainer who enjoyed a great season last year.

CS MALIK:
Ch colt b. 2002 by Makzan x Ciarosa (Ciato)
By High class multiple winner in USA, UK and UAE inc. Group 1 Zaabeel Stakes Makzan – sire of 2004 leading purebred CS Patriarch.
Dam – Ciarosa – placed several times – Dam of: Group 1 Hatta Stakes winner CS Camellia (by Bengali D’Albret) and Group placed and UAE winner CS Kadoza.
A huge well built colt from a Group 1 winning dam line, should be able to hold his own in juvenile events this season.
