A hot maiden and stable jockey Phil Collington picked the right one from Gill Duffield’s yard with Madid (Bengali D’Albret x Kahina El Kihm) running a superb race on his debut quickening clear in the final furlong of a competitive maiden, he can go on from here. Novol (Volpone x Sherrie Noreen) was a length back in second and looks progressive, he showed good battling qualities to get home a half length from Wahchi (Vadeer x Synaps).

The Bentley-Jennison Chartered Accountants Challenge Open Race (TB’s, Anglo’s & PBA’s) over 1 Mile 7 Furlongs:

Exclusive Air (Affirmed x Lac Dessert) continued his fine run of form with an emphatic fifteen length annihilation of the field, sauntering home in the final two furlongs with ease and looks to have found his level. Emali (Emerati x Princess Poquito) & Oh Sunny Boy (Desert Sun x Naivement) had a real battle for second head to head in the final strides of the race to dead heat on the line.

The Kelanne Stud Handicap Stakes 0-85 over 1 Mile:
1. CS Jumali Mr. S Holdsworth
2. Anel Picamer Mr. Haynes
3. Operatic Mr. S arrison

Distances: 1, ½ 10 ran Time: 02:19:80

Winner owned and bred by Mr. M D Brunton. Trained by Mr. W Smith

6/1 shot CS Jumali (Bengali D’Albret x Jumah (Div)) won the hard way, tucked in behind the field and at one stage four lengths off the pack and last he looked anything but the winner, however, this is a classy colt and he made steady headway along the back straight and powered through the field to win by a comfortable length from stable mate Angel Picamer (Amer x Picea HT) ; he looks firmly on the upgrade. Angel Picamer did nothing wrong in second always handy, she came with her run in the final furlong and was all out but couldn’t reel in the winner. Operatic (Vert Olive x Operetta) was the pace setter and was running on at the end another half length back in third and remains in good form.

The Jebel Ali Racing Club Handicap Stakes (Series Qualifier) 0-70 over 6 Furlongs:
1. Cal Mora Pretender Mr. D Burton
2. Kateland Mr. P J Murphy
3. SA Bibi Mr. P Collinton

Distances: 3, 4 7 ran Time: 01:20:60

Winner owned by Mrs. S Herrod. Trained by Mr. P Greenwood. Bred by Mr. G F Serra.

Cal Mora Pretender (Bakara x Mora Pretenciosa) returned to form with a vengeance for new trainer Philip Greenwood who was celebrating his second win this season, this filly had been out of form for a couple of years but she came right back to her best here, grabbing the far rail and rallying to the line to hold off by three lengths the sustained challenge of Kateland (Vert Olive x Fayrelands old) who was gaining with every stride on the stands rail. SA Bibi (Abitibi x Florich) was another five lengths back in third and perhaps didn’t appreciate the firm ground.

The Penn Challenge Handicap Stakes (Series Qualifier) over 1 Mile 2 Furlongs:
1. Ardente Sauvage Mr. S Holdsworth

3. Call Me Risky Mr. S Harrison

Distances: 15, dist 4 ran Time: 02:08:60

Winner owned and trained by Mrs A Batchelor. Bred by E Du Moulin & Mme Tuchaa.

Ardente Sauvage (Feu Ardent x L’Eau Sauvage) caught a flyer, quickly away at the start she turned up the tempo along the back straight where the odds on favourite L’Escalou (Big John x L’Escale) was making steady headway, but coming into the straight she wasn’t slowing down and although L’Escalou tried to reel her in, he went down by twelve lengths at the line. Call Me Risky (Risk Me x Call My Name) who looked distinctly mulish at the start was a distance back in third.
