Track : Firm

The Powells Of Coolham Maiden Stakes – 6 Furlongs:
1. Kaich
Mr. S Walker
2. Shelila Mr. P Collington
3. Millennium Leap Mr. P J Murphy

Distances: 2 ½, 3 ½ 5 ran

Winner owned and bred by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Trained by Mr. W Smith.

Millenium Leap (Khairouan x Balla Star) set a fast pace from the start in the opening maiden over six furlongs and although she had Kaich and Shelila in her slip stream she was always travelling well. However, in the final two furlongs Kaich (Khairouan x Aicha Croixnoire) took over and showed a useful turn of foot to lead and then sprint clear with two and half lengths to spare over Shelila (Bengali D’Albret x Arytmia), whilst Millenium Leap stayed on for third and is clearly a stronger horse mentally and physically this year.

The Northern Racing Plc Banded Stakes (B & C) 1 Mile 7 Furlongs:
1. Anganate Safinat
Mr. F J Offord
2. Sweet Dream Mr. S Walker
3. Cal Koihue Miss L Donovan

Distances: ½, 8 5 ran

Winner owned by The BXPS Racing Partnership. Trained by Mr. D J Paton. Bred by M. X. Combes.

The 1 Mile 7 Furlongs Banded Stakes saw David Paton record his second winner of the campaign when Anganate Safinat got his head in front under a fine tactical ride from Fred Offord, he was prominent from the start with Eternal Light breathing down his neck but from three furlongs out he looked comfortable and it was only the hard driving from Simon Walker on the ill-named Sweet Dream (Way To Go x FH Honey Mellon) that got the stallion to within half a length of the winner Anganate Safinat (Manganate x Astree). Cal Koihue (ZT Shahkar x Harsanmum) stayed on dourly for third but was a good seven lengths adrift of the first two.

The Kelanne Stud Handicap Stakes (Anglo & PBA) 6 Furlongs:
1. L’Escalou
Mr. S Walker
2. Call Me Risky Mr. P Deymonaz
3. Skyboy Adam Mr. F J Offord

Distances: 2 ½, 4 3 ran

Winner owned and trained Mr. W Smith. Bred by Mme M Gaillard.

The six furlong Anglo/PBA race nearly saw an upset when 50/1 shot Skyboy Adam (Ould Rihya x Astrol) caught a flyer at the start and was a good 20 lengths clear of his rivals with 3 furlongs to go but neither Pierre Deymonaz on smart sprinter Call Me Risky or Simon Walker on Champion Anglo L’Escalou looked worried. They gradually reeled in the pace setter and L’Escalou (Big John x L’Escale) pulled clear at the line to win by two and a half lengths from Call Me Risky (Risk Me x Call My Name) who lost nothing in defeat.

The Jebel Ali Racing Club Handicap Stakes (Series Qualifier) (0-65) 6 Furlongs:
1. Kateland
Mr. P J Murphy
2. SA Bibi Mr. G C Farr
3. Khulan Mr. S Walker

Distances: 1 ¼, 4 11 ran

Winner owned and bred by Mrs. C Cone. Trained by Mr. P J Murphy.

The Jebel Ali Racing Club qualifier was won in fine style by a back to form Kateland (Vert Olive x Fayrelands Gold) who led from the start and kept up the effort all the way to the line to win by one and half lengths. Owner / breeder Christine Cone said she was hopeful rather than confident that the mare would win from her lowest handicap mark. SA Bibi (Abitibi x Florich) was prominent throughout but couldn’t quite get there but wasn’t disgraced on his seasonal debut. Khulan (Vert Olive x Tikis Tiffany) stayed on for third but was four lengths behind the principals.

The Equine America Conditions – 1 Mile 7 Furlongs:
1. CS Al Wahed
Mr. P Deymonaz
2. Fripon Al Maury Mr. S Walker
3. Midnite Dream Mr. D Turner

Distances: 18, distance 3 ran

Winner owned and bred by Mr. M Brunton. Trained by Mr. A J Brunton.

The 1 Mile 7 Furlong Open handicap proved a walk in the park for last seasons Champion Stayer CS Al Wahed (Bengali D’Albret x Cikada (Klarnet)) who barely saw a rival as he maintained a gallop that neither of his competitors could sustain, he won easily with 18 lengths to spare over the useful Fripon Al Maury (Djouras Tu x Fayoum), with Midnite Dream (Dantist x Autumn Dream) a distance back in third.

The Kasadi Handicap Stakes (0-85) 1 Mile 2 Furlongs:
1. CS Khamsin
Mr. D Turner
2. Roches Du Cayrou Mr. R Cummings
3. Operatic Mr. D G Colledge

Distances: neck, 2 8 ran

Winner owned and bred by Mr. M Brunton. Trained by Mr. A J Brunton.

The Kasadi Handicap Stakes over 1 Mile 2 Furlongs saw Tony Brunton on the mark again with his brother Michael’s homebred CS Khamsin (Khairouan x Samara Bint Samurai (Golden Samurai)). Always prominent he was stoked along at half way and responded gamely to pressure to lead inside the final furlong and dug deep to hold off the late thrust of Roches Du Cayrou (Newday x Kahinaoura). Operatic (Vert Olive x Operetta (Silver Scenario)) ran another sound race in third beaten two lengths.

The Cal Ramon Maiden Stakes – 1 Mile 2 Furlongs:
1. CS Khan
Mr. D Turner
2. Sing Me A Song Mr. A Newey
3. Mutarased Mr. P Collington

Distances: 1 ¼, ¾ 12 ran

The maiden over 1 mile 2 furlongs was run at a decent pace with CS Khan and Sing Me A Song taking each other on from the start. CS Khan (Khairouan x Cikada (Klarnet)) looked in command from the two furlong and David Turner pushed him out to win by a comfortable and slightly cheeky one and a half lengths. Sing Me A Song (Tidjani x Sinka (Nimroz)) ran wide for much of the race and it’s a testament to how smart she is that she was only beaten into second but such a small distance. Mutarased (Bengali D’Albret x Simooma (Vadeer)) was always handy and battled on in the final furlong for third to repel Penny Black who made an eye-catching debut.
