Hi back in 1961/2 i was a groom at the Whitepool Pony Stud in Monmouth. we had two Stallions Royal Blue and the main one i am trying to trace is Almanza. he was i believe leased and on my employers serious car accident the stud was closed down. the owners were Julia Rigby. i think he went to Bungay? on the Wash. Almanza was a bay 8 year old and either by or in his bloodline Irex. he was stunning both in nature and looks. he also featured in the Field Mag. would love to hear about him. cheers Malakrose
There is a photo of him on there (tiny photo icon next to his name, top middle of pedigree).
If you go to the menu tab 'reports' (top left on pedigree page) and choose 'progeny' he has 19 pure and partbred offspring listed (this might well be an incomplete list). If you use the photos option on this menu you can see all the pictures of his ancestors (where they have been posted on allbreedpedigree)
ETA Slightly left of centre, but last year at the Fakenham Arab Race Meeting (27/06/2010) They ran the Almanza Handicap Stakes - Named in his honour?

This was a long time ago but I have a picture of him somewhere in an old Arab journal. Sadly his owners put it in when he died. They said 'their hearts were empty but their stables full'. We had his half brother Aldomira who was also by Alexus. He also had another well known half brother by Alexus - Gold Rex. Alexus was owned by Mrs Dinsdale of Painswick. Her husband was one of the first editors I believe of the Arab News.

Thank you for information on both Almanza and Royal Blue. Would either of you know where they were re studs. Any photos would be fantastic of the two mentioned. Cheers Rose
I have found the AHS News that mentions Almanza. It is the 1973 Spring Edition. He is pictured on the inside front cover and on pages 63,64 and 65 there is an appreciation of him by his owners. He died in 1973.
This mentions the Rigby family and Whitepool and that Julia had him as a 21st birthday present purchased from his breeders the Dinsdale's of Througham Court in Glos. (We bought Aldomira from them.) His last owners were Mr and Mrs John Unwin of Topcroft Hall Arabian Stud, Topcroft Hall, Bungay, Suffolk. I know they later renamed the stud after Almanza.
If you pm me your address I could photocopy the pages and send them to you. Alternatively you could try and see if anyone has a copy of the relevant AHS News.
Hi Ziadomira, I have pm you, any problem could you let me know. So excited to have the info loved this stallion and been trying to track him for years. Cheers.
