We are new to showing and only found out we could have entered our rddden mare in UKIAHS as she won her first novice class at a C show.

The threads here refer to In hand or Ridden or both? Under saddle I found out last year that 1-3 in a Novice class is enough to enter. We have only ever entered one novice class, and won, so we now only enter Open classes with our horses, (and we do quite often win them as well, even with our newly backed horses). Do BACS qualifiers count as you have to come first to win one? Do HOYS classes count, as you have to come first to qualify for HOYS? Which classes qualify you for UKIAHS under saddle?

As a much less important secondary question, if you qualify under saddle can you enter the in-hand classes, and vice versa?

Here they are

Hi,

Firstly if you win a novice class you can win 2 more before you need to go into open classes. The one win rule was changed for the 2009 season. Even if you win 3 classes in the same year for that particular year you are still a novice. This applies at all AHS affiliated shows.

In HOYS classes the ticket can pass to 4th place and 5th at the nationals as long as the higher placed horses have already qualified (and you have purchased a HOYS ticket from the AHS for £20 - minumum of 1 week before the show you intend to compete at).

At any C show in either novice or open classes a top 3 placing is sufficent to qualify for Towerlands, however I am not sure if this applies to restricted open or intermediate, Mr Angold would be the person to ask on this!.

Hope this helps

Louise
