Please don't sell to over there. I have just been out and have seen the fall out from those horses that get hammered and discarded. It's happening on a huge scale. Please, please just don't do it. |

I think the person advertising is British but I believe he is based in UAE and is advertising in Australia for horses to compete in Dubai in the winter and Britain in the summer. This is interesting as at the moment the only FEI rides in England are EGB ones - does this mean there are moves afoot to reinstate Euston Park, or upgrade an EGB ride with substantial sponsorship from an unsavoury source? Could this in any way be linked to the closure of the EGB Forum?
Absolutely agree with Touchofblue & Misper - it's beyond comprehension that anyone would sell a horse to UAE knowing what their record on horse welfare is. |

I shared a video today on FB which i find so sad, the riding and lack of thought or care for their horses is shocking, but of course if they drop down dead, break down or break a leg they don,t care they just buy more. I would rather put any of mine to sleep then let them go out there, sadly still breeders over here happy to sell and send them over, shame on them. |

Agree with everybody, any breeders that sell abroad know what they are doing. and I doubt it is in the interest of the horse. |

As above, please don't sell to the UAE, their record on horse welfare is appalling, although I am sure there are good owners out there as well, it is just not worth the risk of a horse ending up in the wrong hands. |

If anyone at all is thinking of selling their horse(s) for endurance to the ME I hope you saw the totally sickening photo on FB of a poor grey Arab with both forelegs snapped !! One of the most horrifying photos I've ever seen and two men in Arab dress standing behind the horse just looking, waiting for it to die probably as out there they rarely PTS. The expression on the horses face is one I'll never forget - heartbreaking. |

I've been sharing these videos & pictures on fb. The more noise people make about the mistreatment of horses by some people over there the better & maybe people who are still selling horses there with hopefully stop. I often get enquiries for horses for sale as I breed Crabbet related sports horses. I would like to know who this person is please so that I can avoid them & make other people aware. Thank you. |

Have followed this thread with horror at what goes on and thankfully I haven't seen pictures. I am a happy hacker with one very special Arab friend for life. Just want to give my support and gratitude to those trying to change and prevent this cruelty.

I know this is a slight diversion from the topic but as far as I'm aware it is not against Islam to perform euthanasia on an animal if its sick. It is however a sin to keep an animal alive with no food or water until it dies (I would think this applies to 'turning it out' in the desert). A friend of mine recently worked in Dubai as a vet nurse and I quizzed her when she returned. I don't understand why they're not putting horses to sleep which are injured but instead allowing them to suffer even more. |

It is so difficult to know what we can do about this, one small action would be to sign the change.org petition to the FEI, asking for the 2016 World Endurance Championship to be removed from Dubai in the UAE. As mentioned by Touch of Blue at the start of this thread.
As of this morning the petition only required another five signatures to reach 5,000. Many people some from other disciplines and from all over the world have already signed this and left heartfelt comments:

Thanks to everyone who signed the petition, it has definitely crept very slowly recently but is now over 5000 One GB horse registered in UAE in Nov but does not appear to have been competed yet https://data.fei.org/Horse/Detail.aspx?p=D7393926FA628390B327BE16C35A263C
Research has shown many new horses exported to UAE recently, mainly from France, Australia, Uruguay, Argentina just a few from Spain and Italy Money talks sadly! |

And sadly people sell there just for the money with no thought or care as to what happens to the horses afterwards. May we all remember Spitters Creek Bundy even though it is painful to do so; poor, poor horse, used and abused and then tossed aside like a piece of garbage.
Please never forget him.
