With Admin's permission, I am posting this "help with rehoming" request. Completely unforseen, I have lost my job. I have no doubt I shall get another one in the not-too-distant future; however, rescuing Sambel cleaned out my rainy day fund, and whilst I do have some money, it will be used before too long. S is 15.2hh, dark bay, 16 year old mare. She is kind, and quiet to ride and handle. She is still a little anxious when leaving the herd, but rapidly settles. Happy to hack for miles, and is remarkably cheerful to go anywhere, any time! Good with traffic, including big stuff, goes first or last. Doesn't hot up in company. Teeth done yesterday - completely quiet, without any sedation. Lots to do, (not touched in years, according to the lovely EDT) shod a couple of weeks ago - no problem. Has stopped rearing when saddled, and now does not need lunging, just the saddle put on quietly and girthed up gently, then left for a few moments before mounting. Sambel would probably do a decent walk and trot test, as she is working nicely in the school, and pops a little jump without fuss. Really embarrassing posting this, but my priority is finding S a good, understanding, Arabian home, where she can continue to benefit from calm consistent management, and no unreasonable demands being placed on her. She will continue becoming an excellent allrounder, but needs a few more months building on what she has achieved so far. Please PM me if you have any good ideas or want more info. We are in North Kent and easily accessed via M2/M20/M25. Thanks.

Zooscat, so sorry to hear this. I can't help as I'm in Spain but after everything you have achieved so far, this must be a real kick in the teeth. Sending you best wishes for Sambel and a new job x |

Sorry to read this Zooscat, Are you on facebook? There is a lovely lady on FB who helps re-home arabs and has set up a group, she might be worth getting in touch with her.
If you e-mail me your contact details I will send a p.m. to Anna and we can try and find someone to help Sambel. She is half sister to top class racemare Sabden.
Sorry about your job.
My e-mail is paulprszay@hotmail.com
Regards,
Paul |

So sorry to read this Zooscat, I am currently going through the redundancy process, so I know the worries it brings, and it is unlikely I will pick up another job in my industry quickly, since it's oil and gas and 1000's of jobs are going, so I shall have to find something completely different. I hope you can find exactly the right home for Sambel, and another job asap. Just to clarify, are you looking for a loan home or to sell? - in case I hear of someone. Best of luck. |

Hi dear ALiners , what a comfort you are in worrying times: the job going was probably a blessing, given the manager was a rude, tyrannical person, and II despised some of her behaviour to junior staff. However, most unexpected, and the team were horrified. Never mind, her life is my revenge! I would like Sambel's next home to be with someone who really wants her for life. If they can afford to give me a contribution, that would be very welcome. However, I really want her to have a settled, useful life. She is such a sweet and useful mare, and would make a very nice friend for someone who appreciates her type. She is quite a light weight sort and would not be up to more than, possibly , 10.5 stone. But I'm not very good on weight carrying capacity, so I stand to be corrected on this. Callisto, I do hope your redundancy works out well: does this mean that you won't be off-shore again? Will that be a plus? Do hope so! |

Can only add to the good luck, it never rains but it pours! You've obviously already spent a fortune on her. I'm sure you will make sure she finds the best home possible. |

Redundancy is horrible - I hope you both come through it OK and move on to better things, Zooscat and Callisto. I do hope things work out for Sambel - so sad it didn't work out when you were so hopeful for her. Life can be poo at times and the only revenge is to keep on living it! |

Hi Zoocat, does she prefer to live in or out, and is she fine with geldings? I was not actively looking but did think that if the right horse came along at the right time, I would consider it! |

Hi Crazy Dancer, thanks for your interest. Sambel lived out with the previous owner, I think, and she lived out with us for the first four weeks, as we didn't have a spare stable for her. She is now in at night and out in the day. I think she could live out, but would need a good rug, shelter and lots of fibre based ration. She is a hay eating machine! She's fine with geldings, was out with one when we first got her and is stabled next to one. Not 'kicky' with either mares or geldings, ridden or turned out/tied up. Hope that helps. |

Thanks Zooscat. I did some reading up on here about her background and what you have done with her - well done for doing such a good job! I don't think I would be the right home for her, she deserves someone who will have more time than I do unfortunately. I really hope you find someone who can take her on and progress with the good job you have started. :) |

Thanks for your interest, Crazydancer: she continues to be a little star, being really good for the vet who had to record all her markings for her AHS re-registration, and for the last of her vaccinations. It's really sad she has to be moved on much more quickly than I wanted. I'm sure she will be "found" by some lucky person: a kind person from AL is currently interested, but of course, S may, for whatever reason, not quite fit the required brief. Fingers and toes crossed for her, and me, too please! We both need it! |
